going to be working on refinishing the hardtop for the 88' runner i picked up the other day. Going to try and do it all myself, including re-uping the sliding windows which i have been able to find very little info on. Im working on it now, and will post some picks later. Any tips/tricks will be more than happily accepted!

Quick, easy and full-opening access to things inside from outside, and it would offer more protection from precipitation when open compared to a sliding window.
Really like the full-wing idea! Here is were I’m at thus far. Pulled all windows to repaint the L trim and frames and clean and restore the rubber, also to redo the seals. Might take the window while they are out to have them darkened up a bit! Started in on the paint of the actual top. Did a full 5 coats(primer 3top and a gloss). Was going for a satin finish. Basically first run didn’t turn out like I wanted. The fiberglass was in bad shape and wouldn’t get a smooth finish. So sanded back down....and went with truck bed liner. It’s turning out much better and looking exactly like I want it to. I’ll post some pics of the bed liner tonight but here or some pictures of the dismantle. Frame removed Sliding window frame Back window removed Back windows Inside the L trim in the sliders Screw to remove glass and astragal from slider Empty frames ready for paint

Good idea to tint them off the truck. Much easier to do by yourself.
While you have the body open, may I ask for dimensions of the lip where window is mounted and how deep it is recessed from main body? Would help with design/ concept of gull-wing window.

Unscrew the center channel, this allows you to flex the frame at the center and remove the glass. (You'll find this detailed in your FSM Body section.)

Are you glad you removed the back windows? Did you have any issues resealing them? What did you use ro seal them? I worry about damaging the existing weather strip because it is brittle.
