Air intake boot

Air intake boot
I just found a large tear in my air intake boot. This is a 1983 22r, will an air intake boot from a later model fit? I'm having a time finding one for my engine.

Pictures are worth 1000 words as are your vehicle's info in the signature space.

A picture paints a thousand words.
A problem well-stated is almost solved.
I wrapped mine with 10-mil vinyl pipe cover tape before i embarked on Route 66 trip in Dec 2016. Been working good and passed smog. Universal fit

Is your current intake boot made of rubber or plastic?
The later years for the 22R are made of plastic and have a different air intake silencer setup than earlier models. I am not sure when Toyota made the switch. This is why a picture would help.
I suspect they are interchangeable, with the exception of the intake silencer box, depending on how much space your coolant overflow tank occupies.
The good news is that a 22R intake does not have to be completely air tight because there is no Air Flow Meter involved.
Here is what my intake looks like on a stock 1987 22R. It is made of plastic. Unfortunately I have not seen any new replacements for the stock 22R intakes as it isn't as critical as it is for the 22R-E. Used intakes are all I have seen available.
The red arrow is pointing to the air silencer/resonator box that I am not sure will fit your truck.

Sorry for the lack of pictures guys, and I thought I had my Sig worked out.... Anyway here's the picture of what I'm talking about. It looks like the vinyl tape might work, good idea. But does anyone know if a later year will fit?

So yes the boot between the stock air cleaner snout and the radiator support.
FWIW, my 84 has been without it since I got it in 2011 (ish) and I don't have any issues I can attribute to it. It runs very well and mpg is around 23 mpg.
However, someone needs to take the 10-mil vinyl pipe cover tape away from RAD4

Aha you guys are a hoot, I think it looks good rad4, as long as it works. Yeah I've been running mine without for the last couple days, haven't noticed any problems. I might save some cash and just keep going without, but I wanted to see what options there are.

mine was missing - I made a tube from exhaust pipe that goes from the rubber elbow which I cut from another truck (about where your thumb is) and goes all the way through the front radiator support (using a reducer). Painted and looks almost stock. Cost about $8. Can’t seem to find a pic of it installed, but it’s out now for an engine swap.
