Rock guard... Chip guard...
Mine's cracked. I've seen many other vehicles without them. I wonder if they really significantly help, because - being the minimalist- I'd rather not have cladding that traps dirt and moisture and promotes rust . I can mask the area and apply undercarriage / bed liner coating.

here on the East Coast those are known as "that plastic which hides the body shell rot after causing the body shell rot by trapping road salt against the paint"....
I shoulda saved mine - tossed em in in a fit of cleaning the garage

Did you leave yours off? How did you seal the existing mounting holes?
No significant rock chips with them off?

Mine's cracked (and was bondo'd over!)
I am leaning toward putting on fiberglass quarters when we get to the body work stage, but I do like the contrast of the black rock guards.
Anybody know if they are still available from dealers?

Toyota calls them: COVER, QUARTER WHEEL HOUSE

You might be able to get them at the dealer (or online dealer), but I am not sure. My truck is a 2WD with the Japanese bed so I do not have them from the factory.
I do not know if the truck and 4Runner versions are different.

The dealer sites let you order them but cancels the order the next day because they are discontinued. I posted a link to order them from Japan for about $85 EACH on my build thread. Hint: I did not order them. When I took mine off there was a rust hole my fist could fit through that it was hiding. I closed the holes with fiberglass before I painted. So far there's been no bad effect by leaving them off. I have thought of getting the 3M chip guard tape or whatever it's called. It's used on the 3rd gen and it's not noticeable.
