Quick Question: Shifter Seat...

At NAPA
89 3.0 4x4 240,000

Working on my paw paws Toyota that I will be driving again after a break. Towards the last time I was driving it. The shift started to get sloppy then it got to where it wouldnt go into 5th then reverse.

It still goes 1-4 good but its got some play in it. Its never been rammed in gear so II'm hoping its not bent forks but its never had a shifter seat and bushing replacement so it needs it anyway.

I looked it up before but now I can not find the part # to tell NAPA. I know the Marlin Crawler is tougher but we're just wanting to get 5th and R back as quick as possible.

I found this. Is this all I need if not can someone please give me the part # of what I need? Thank you.

I ordered the Marlin Crawler shifter seat and bushing today. I hope it comes in a reasonable time.

I got the shifter out today. I did not see a shifter seat but there was a very thin black o-ring or was that my shifter seat just mashed that flat?

Either way I know it needed a new one.

Well, I talked to MarlinCrawler and they said my order should ship today or in the morning.

I asked the guy about the O-Ring thing and he said that it was actually part of the factory shifter seat and that my top half had completely disintegrated away.

He told me that I didn't need it any more because the marlin crawler seat didn't use it.

You might have to replace the shift retainer at 240K. The guide pivots get loose and make everything sloppy, and super difficult to find gears. Had that issue on my '90 with 220K, replaced the retainer, shifter seat and bushing and the thing was actually fun to drive again. Found a factory shift retainer from a dealer for $70+shipping. Marlin Crawler makes ones with replacable pivots for the R150F tranny for $300.
