This was the 4runner he built on 37s with 3 inch springs with a leaf removed. The 4 inch springs would probably give you more travel though. Maybe?
That's a good looking runner. I've thought about pulling a leaf out of mine. But I'm waiting to get it going first. I Need to measure my frame height to see where I'm at.
Here is my 4Runner on 35s (15x8) with chevy 63s. still ifs... but when I SAS, I am going to keep them back there and put my old 3" downey rear springs in the front. Going to try and keep it at about the same height I am at now (maybe a tad higher in the front).
That is a good looking runner. I like the stance alot. Mine might have to sit a bit higher if i plan on running 37s though

Yeah be sure to share your frame height after your springs settle. Im curious.
Ive been thinking and now im leaning towards going 4 inch springs front and rear. Let them settle, then remove a leaf or two out of the front springs to match the rear ride height which will probably be sagging.
Not soon enough...... haha. Probably in November... Recovering from axles still. I just got promoted and will be making a little more money so it could be sooner. We will see.
I talked to a 4x4 shop yesterday. They said they would charge $1500 for 20 hours of labor. Im considering going that route since the only tools I have are air tools, a compressor, a basic ratchet set, pliers, and screwdrivers and NO welding/ grinding experience. I could learn on the fly though.
None of my friends are into this stuff so they dont have many tools/ experience either. I would rather do it myself, but I dont know if it is the best way to go. Good thing is I have plenty of time to think about it while i save up more money haha. Maybe a friendly Yotatecher would let me rent their shop and pay whatever to occupy it? Haha
The next step is buying the rest of the brackets that weld onto the frame from TG. Spring hangers, sleeves, shock hoops, ect...

I know how you feel. I waited a while to start on mine and its taken me 1.5 years to do.
The 4runner has gone through some minor changes in the past year.
I found out that the shift seat bushing was completely gone so i replaced it. Shifts sooooooo much better!
I replaced the cracked dash with one that was in better shape and a altimeter. Ive always liked those altimeters and I replaced the nasty factory cloth sun visors with some vinyal 2nd gen ones. Was an easy swap only cost $35 and much better
The fan that came on the 4runner was broken somehow, very confusing how it got the way it was, I imagine it exploded and tore up the factory shroud and and factory radiator. The shroud was destroyed and the radiator was pretty new. Anyways i replaced that.
The automatic antenna was broken when i got it. It was broken off. I got a replacement from antennamastsrus.com very recommended. Works like stock. You can prob see the before picture in my first post.
I got sick of the annoying rattling of the tail gate latches especially when the top was up. I read that people use a 1inch bike tire tube. I cut it up and zip tied it. Works like a charm. No rattle what so ever.
Also recarpeted the entire thing. The carpet was faded and very gross and smelled bad when i got it. I found a guys elling a shampooed carpet 10 min from my house and picked it up for $60. 3 piece set front to back.
Got a package in the mail today from lowrangeoffroad.com one more box hasnt gotten here yet. Im pretty sure it is the Chevy spring kit from low range. After a lot of thought i decided to go chevys and RUF for the springs as an attempt to keep it lower. We will see how it turns out i guess.
Chevys from lowrangeoffroad got damaged in transit. They are going to take care of it for me. Great customer support.
Going to order RUF springs from Sky this week with black 17x9 mickey thompson classic IIIs and 37inch pitbull rockers within the next month and i should i have everything i need to SAS
Wheels came in the mail. The replacement Chevy 63s shipped today and I'm waiting on the RUFs to come in the mail. I went with sky's RUF springs that will drop right in.
Your rig is coming along nicely! I got lucky and picked it up already built. Just had to put the rear case back together. I have most of a SAS kit I bought for my 86' Runner that I sold five years ago. It's just laying there in the garage... Lol
Turns out the hydro assist ram only wants to move one way. Steering wheel will move fine one direction, but it fights itself if you turn it the other way. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Update
When the ram is disconnected from the crossover steering the ram extends when you turn the steering wheel either way. I bought the parts used and they sat for about a year before being installed fwiw. Otherwise steering appears to work normally when the ram is taken out of the equation.
Update 2
After a phone conversation with Trail-gear I learned I had a 2" diameter Hydo Ram (way too much for the stock pump). I will opt for a 1.5" when i can afford it. Im just going to cap off the connections for now.
