My wife told me about 3 weeks ago that her 4runner is overheating and making a clunk noise when she starts it in the morning, so the next morning I went and started it, heard the noise followed by spewing of white smoke from the exhaust, I checked the coolant level and the radiator was almost empty, so last night we traded it in for this.

Its a 98 4runner Limited with the 3.4, automatic with the rear diff locker, leather interior and moonroof.

Yep!
Nah, I love this new 4runner its crazy how much there is in common with the second gen that we had but still how much better and nicer this one is. The E-locker was pretty much the selling point on it, the wife wanted a Suburban or something similar but being my vehicle I kept it all Toyota

Took a trip to Brown's camp yesterday to see what the new 4runner could do, I have to admit even with the bald tires on it, with the rear locker, the 4runner did awesome. The running boards got pretty beat on though.
The 4runner on Cedar Tree, didn't get alot of pics since I didn't want to get out as it was pretty muddy.

My brother-in-law with his Grand Cherokee

My co-pilot was not so enthusiastic about everything

I kinda felt bad because her head was bobbing all over the place.

Thanks a lot JDOGG, the 4runner is real nice wheeling, I just couldn't do anything crazy or even moderately crazy because the running boards kept getting in the way, I noticed coming out of the store the other day that the passenger board is bowed upwards

I have actually contemplated selling the 88 and keeping the 4runner for DD and off road, especially after taking it to brown's and seeing how well it did in the mud with bald tires. Mike is trying to convince me to stick the axle under the 4runner.

Mike and I do think alike! I just think you have an awesome platform their only downfall is alittle more top heavy but you get the locker and you don't have to mess with anything and you have the 3.4 so you'll have all the power you'll ever need. Plus you should have lower diff gears do to the auto and being a sport edition possibly 4:88's? Just my thoughts but it is very pretty and if u keep it you can really wheel the piss out of the 88 and not feel bad and the sas will be a little less involved compared to the runner and you'll have a stronger frame so lots to take into consideration I guess lol.

Yea, I just keep looking at the cost for a 3rd gen SAS and think about how I would want to keep it pretty so I would wuss out on a lot of stuff I think. Also used parts for upgrading come easier and cheaper with the 88, maybe in a few years I might do it.

Well yesterday I started installing the CB I got for Christmas, I got the 4ft firestick put on and the cable ran and just waiting to get a din install kit for the radio itself. We have been real slow at work lately so I was planning on doing the body lift and drivetrain lift at work, but............................................... ...

This lady that was driving the Isuzu Trooper in front of me in the first pic decided to pull out in front of me this morning while I was driving 40mph down TV HWY here in the Hillsboro area while I was on my way to work. I was in the slow lane and couldn't change lanes since there was a car right next to me, I hit her left rear with my right front after just standing on the brakes and bracing for impact.
The cops came right after it happened and gave her a ticket as she came up with all kinds of excuses on why it was my fault, starting with
"he didn't have his lights on"
Well being that it was daylight out I didn't need them on but I did infact have my headlights on and remember when the truck died looking down and seeing the blue glow of my dash.
"he was in the other lane"
The cop told me it doesn't matter but I had been traveling in that lane for the last 2 blocks.
"he was too close to the car in front of him"
Again, doesn't matter, and if I was she would have hit them pulling into the road, but the car in front of me was a dump truck that was at least 100 feet in front of me.
So everyone is okay, it really sucks because I know her insurance company is going to total my truck out and probably give me about $600 for it. I was so close to 300,000 on an original motor, right at 294,000 miles. But I will buy it back and it is now a retired daily driver, off road only Yota.

It was where all those townhomes are next to Fred Meyer. I drove it home and the alignment is off, the hood wont stay latched and I can't open the passenger door, the washer bottle got squished between the radiator support and the battery and started leaking which made me think it was the radiator at first, the truck is also riding a little lower on that side now.
I guess its just time for the wife to find a car, for me to start driving the 4runner and the pickup to get SAS'd and chopped for wheeling.

Thanks John, I won't be getting a Tacoma I actually just got a 3rd gen 4runner Limited not to long ago but the wife doesn't have a car yet so she has been driving it, I hope I can get at least $1500 or so and keep the truck.

I don't see any problem with getting 1500 the way the insurance company's total rigs out now is off what they are selling for on craigslist in the area. At least that's what they did when my parents car got totaled last year.

I had a woman back in to my drivers door on my 86 with a Yota mini van. Jacked up my door and dented my extra cab section. The adjuster came out and I got $1500 but that was also back in 04. Door still doesnt seal right and I still have fixed the extra cab dent but it gives it style lol. Try getting it re aligned and if that doesnt fix it, go SAS and still use as a part time DD
