I was reading over here in the general chat area some good servers.
http://utforums.epicgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20

My favorite mode is plain old Team Deathmatch and Capture The Flag.

I am looking forward to using the hoverboard in UT3.
Is that for all modes, or only like Onslaught?

I'll have to check that link out...as far as gameplay they have DeathMatch, Team Deathmatch, CTF, Vehicle CTF, Warfare, Duel, and Campaign...CTF is friggin crazy...I'll just walk around and just stare at the "eye candy" for these maps. I'm still amazed how well they put this game together.

Doublepost sorry...hoverboard is not on all maps. If you don't have access to the hoverboard the keybind turns into a translocator (teleporter). You'll see that on all the space maps.

OH! so you play bf1942, have you play on this server yet? DS Discriples - El Alamein 24/7. I always play there almost everyday. If you see " I EAT NOOB* FLYING DUCK " then holla at me...

Keep an eye on the official forum too.
http://utforums.epicgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20

The best map packs for UT 2004 were called UCMP 1 and UCMP 2 which had great CTF and Team Deathmatch maps, much better than the original ones.

The team that designed those maps are already on the ball with designing or porting over the other ones for the new UT.

Gosh I can not wait until the UPS gal shows up tomorrow with my game.
Will test it out a bit, but will really be giving it a good workout Friday evening.

Patch 1.1 beta is out.
http://www.gamershell.com/news/43670.html

Getting it now, will install later after my 12K checkup on the FJ is done.
Gotta head down to the dealer soon.

The game runs a little choppy on my system compared to UT 2004.
I prefer the older game much more too.

There are more options in 2004 like choosing the announcers voice, the jukebox for your own MP3s, many others too.
I just prefer the older game much more, and I will continue to play the heck out of it too.

But I will give this game a chance.
It does not have Invasion which I liked in 2004, just a lot of differences that make it perhaps not as much fun for me.

My next PC build though (Best of the best, a pure gaming rig) will run this new game like a champ.
I play the older one at 1680x1050 (same as my desktop res), I am playing this one at 1024x768 in the game.

I played it for over an hour yesternight testing out different resolutions and options in the game.
Also a gripe is it does not save your custom map selections for when you are hosting a game, or the number of bots you input.
You must redo it each time.
That is just lame on Epics part.
The older games, both UT99 and 2004 saved all of that info, you never had to re-input that stuff each time you fired up the game.

The interface before you launch a game is not as good as the older one either.
They should have made it the same as 2004, a much better game IMO, and I have been gaming for quite a long time.

Game up on the server

OK, Andy (member Drew) and I worked hard for the past few hours, and we have the game installed on his Counter Strike Source server.

It runs great, in fact it runs better when I join in that hosting a game on my PC to play.

To play you need to be patched to patch 1.1 beta
http://www.gamershell.com/news/43670.html

You also should install the mutator CustomUT which is made by the same author that made UTComp for UT 2004.
http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=592400

The game rocks, but it is different than UT 2004 which I am use to.

The game should be running 24/7 on Andy's dedicated server which is at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle.

Look for the game under Team Deathmatch via your games browser for servers, and the game is called Seattle AllProGamers.

Just got done playing Andy and a few others who joined for the past hour or so.

Correction, the server name will show up in the server browser as:
allprogamers:Seattle

The server is running the UTComp mod which provides hitsounds and map voting.
Actually if you join the server it will upload the UTComp mod to your PC automatically.
You still need the patch to play though.

We had 8 humans playing Saturday evening.
We start out with 5 bots and 1 human when you join the game, and for every human that joins, it will kick out a bot.
It is set for a maximum of 16 players.

Go get the game and come frag our butts
The hoverboard as seen in the second screenshot is pretty cool.
That was from a warfare map we were playing.

We will be playing a lot over the Christmas break.

Which game monitor looks cooler.
The horizontal ones do not show the picture of the map, the vertical ones do.

These are both games running right now on Andy's gaming server.

I think we will use both the game stats above on his forum/site.

Testing Fraps again out on the new game.
First up you will see Team Deathmatch followed by a few minutes of the play mode called Warfare which is similar to the play mode called Onslaught in UT2004.
The latter is actually a lot of fun too.

Go buy this game so we can battle against each other.
I guarantee you will enjoy this game if you like first person shooters.
Andy's server we setup last Saturday is running the game great, and I do not get any lag on it, but then the server is only about 25 miles away in downtown Seattle at the Westin Hotel, a major hub where many server are at.

Be sure to check out some of the other UT III vids listed after mine plays.
There are some really good players out there.

Some vids may have PG+ language in them.
Play at your discretion.

One hour long video here with commentary.
If you fast forward past 10 minutes they get to the fighting.

This is Warfare mode, much different than Capture The Flag or Team Deathmatch.

This vid pretty much shows the cool stuff in the game including the hoverboards and vehicles you can drive.

http://www.gamespot.com/video/928117...8&mb=ut3-dec07

It will play full screen too.

I picked it up over Xmas, Corey... Liking it so far, but some of the weapon "tweaks" feel more like nerfs to me (esp. the Flak Cannon, which feels wimpy now). the game LOOKS fantastic, of course, and Vehicle CTF looks fun too. So far all I've been doing is playing against bots at "Skilled" - I got online for about 30 minutes and got thoroughly spanked, naturally.

Maybe we can set up a sever some time for the Yota folks!

My friend who runs the Counter Strike Source server who added UT a few weeks back thinks the flak cannon does more damage now.

The server is up most of the time for UT III unless he is defragging it or doing other maintenance on it.

It would be cool to get some others from here to play.
I have been playing quite a bit over the holidays since I have been off work two Fridays ago.
Gotta head back to work Wednesday.

Here are the specs on the new PC I built over the weekend, UT rocks with it!
Built 12-29-2007
Case - Antec 900 Gamer
PSU - Thermaltake ToughPower 650 watt
Motherboard - Asus P5N32-E
CPU - Intel Dual Core 3.0 G E6850
Ram - Corsair PC-8500 2 GB
Hard drive - Seagate SATA 2 320 GB
Video card - eVGA 8800 GT 512 MB
Soundcard - Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
DVD/CD - Pioneer DVR-112D

Mac fans rejoice
http://kotaku.com/335511/unreal-tour...heading-to-mac

On the server that my friend runs, it is having a tough time running both games, and his Counter Strike Source game takes priority over UT III.

We are thinking of going in halves on a gaming server we will build ourselves, then deliver it to the data center to host like his present box is.

Update on this if anyone has bought the game ans wants to lob some rockets at me.

We are on a new IP.
And very soon hopefully in the next few weeks we will have a new server to replace our current one at the Seattle Westin Hotel where the current one now resides.

We are going with a quad core Intel CPU.
This will let us run UT III full time along with the main game Counter Strike Source.
And we are thinking of adding Call Of Duty 4 to the mix too.

Also a brand new patch just came out for UT III a few days ago which improves the game.
