I use to play a lot of the original UT, then UT 2004 which I still play.
I think UT 2004 is my all time favorite 1st person shooter.
The new one coming out in November looks very good, and it will have team deathmatch, regular deathmatch, and capture the flag as the older ones did, but also a new mode called Warfare.
We will be installing this on member Drew's gaming server, so maybe we can get a few from here to play like we have in the past.
Andy had UT 2004 on which I managed, but we took it down to make more room for his main game he runs, Counter Strike Source.
Be sure to check out the vids at the above site.
Also new will be a hoverboard much like the "Back to the future" movies.
Push the Q key, and you are cruisin'.

ha, I have it for the DC too, pretty fun once you get the hang of it with that controller. I would probably have to buy a new graphics card in addition to the game to run it on my PC. Playing CS Source is pretty fun, but w/ a new kid I don't make the time

OK, the demo is out!
Andy is getting it from File Planet, and it will be on his server this weekend.
The demo only lets 10 at once connect to it though.
I am not sure if this is through Epics servers, or if you load up the demo to host it for others to join.
I am to busy this weekend though with a run coming up tomorrow to install or play it.
Hopefully next weekend I will have some free time to play it.

File Planet makes you pay to get the file, boo on them
Here is a mirror site, it is 741 MB, and I am getting it now.

I do believe my friend Andy has it setup on his Counter Strike Source server too.

Just played it, it rocks!
Could not customize it of course like I do when I host or play instant action, but it looks great.
Some of the old weaponry like the flak cannon and the shock rifle look different, but the effects are the same.
And shooting the shock rifle it looks cooler with its effects than UT2004 does.
I will have this game as soon as it hits stores.
And yes, Andy is setting it up on his CS:S server.
Only 16 can join at a time I think.
After the full game comes out it will go on the server.

And for the record, my 2.4 C Intel machine with the Asus P4P800 mobo, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia 256 MB AGP card (fastest AGP card out to cater to those who have not gone PCI Express yet) plays the game at 1680x1050 just fine.
This is the card I have, the EVGA e-GeForce 7800 GS Superclocked.
Still going to build a new PC later for gaming, but will be doing lots of research on components.

Not sure what Epic and Midway are saying you need.
I would go get the demo and try it out at various vid settings in the game.
I use to run all my games in the past at 1024x768, but after putting in the new vid card a year and a half back or so, I run all games at 1680x1050 if they have the setting in there.
RAM really helps too.
I would suggest 2 GB as a minimum for running todays games.
Before when I had 1 GB of RAM, upon exiting a game, the desktop would crawl and I would have to reboot to clear up RAM.
Not now, and I can even leave Firefox and Outlook 2004 running in the background, and when exiting a game, it snaps right to the desktop.

If you are going to play, be sure to sign up here.

Rainy weekend coming up for me, so I will be messing around playing this on my friend Andy's server, and some of the official servers.
I forgot all about trying out the hover board, will try that later for sure.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOT
I am gonna go for the DVD one if I can get it.
Makes it so much simpler to setup instead of using multiple CDs.
My 2004 edition is the DVD one.
Actually it was Kctopher's, and he did not have a DVD drive at the time, so I swapped him my multiple CD edition one for his DVD one.

Still playing UT 2004, played yesterday for over an hour, and getting ready to que it up again.
Just placed my order with Amazon for three copies of the Collectors Edition which comes on one DVD instead of multiple CDs.
Will be playing this next Friday evening.

I just realized I use to use a video and audio capturing software application called Fraps.
www.fraps.com
I went and DL'd the newest version there and tested it out.
It consumes a lot of horsepower when capturing a video.
This video I uploaded to Youtube was 4 GB, then Windows Movie Maker shrunk it down to around 34 MB at 720x480 resolution, and around 740 kbps.
I play a lot better than this, in fact I am pretty decent at the game, but when Fraps is running when you hit your hotkey to capture, it makes the game seem jerky.
It was still fun though, UT 2004 is probably the best PC game I have ever played.
The action is non stop and very fast paced.
I run a few mutators such as Arena that lets you specify what weapon to use only instead of the standard game which has all weapons in it.
The flak cannon is my favorite, and UT 3 has it as well.
I also run low gravity so you can jump high, and also the big head mutator which makes your head get huge when you rak up more kills, or get small if you have low kills.
If my friend Andy loads this onto his Counterstrike Source server later, I will post the info here to join.
He also runs Team Speak on his server for voice chat which is almost as clear as the telephone, so we can talk via PC mic while in game.

I have a counterstrike Source server but I think I'm gonna get UT4 or COD4 and run a server for one them. I can't decide, I think if I went with UT4 I would get rid of my 7950GX2 and get a DX10 capable card.

I've been playing UT3 for about a week. I was a diehard UT2k4 player as well. Very nice to see UT back, with insane graphics! Makes me want to get an 8 series nvidia card now. I'm kinda disappointed how few servers are ever full though. My favorite is warfare (old onslaught), but I refresh and never see more than 5 or 6 servers with a decent number of players.
