Update!
Member Drew as you may know from some of my other threads here is renting two very fast servers based at the Westin Hotel in Seattle.
The download speed is around 22,000 kbps compared to the 4,000 kbps I get with Comcast.
He got the server setup with UT 2004 on July 4th, and I did some tweaking for the game styles and maps.
We have some mroe things to work on such as enabling voice chat in the game, but the server smokes.
If anyone here with the game would like to test out the speed, games, and maps, the IP is:
64.246.174.203:7777
Give it a try and report back here how it works.
We hope to have it all setup by Friday night.

Bump...
OK, we have decided not to use UT 2004s built in voice chat, as it is not very loud, and not the best.
A much better app is called Team Speak 2.
http://www.goteamspeak.com/news.php
You need the Windows TS2 client.
ftp://ftp.freenet.de/pub/4players/te...t_rc2_2032.exe
Once you install the application, open it up and click on "settings" from the menu, then "sound input/output settings."
Bind a key in there for "push to talk."
I am using F, the same as it is in UT.
If you bind a key that is already used in UT, make sure you deactivate it.
So what this means is I have to unbind the F key in the voice chat area of UTs settings.
After binding your key, click on "quick connect" under the "connection" menu.
There you will enter the servers IP of 64.246.174.203, and then enter a nickname.
Leave the other 2 fields blank.
Leave the app running, then fire up UT.
The UT server also has the server side software running on it, and it will only be turned on during game time like Friday nights or on Saturdays to keep it from being abused
Hope to see a lot of you in the game Friday night.
I will try to make it by 7 PM, but I may be late, hopefully not.
I will bump this thread before I fire up the game Friday night.
I gotta Starbucks Double Shot drink waiting for me in the fridge, so I should be pretty wired to play the game

Bump...
45 minutes to go
Team Speak is turned on the UT server, so if you wanna test it out before the game, I have it running so you can talk to me, and you do not need to be in the game.
Have to eat first, and I will be watching Stargate Atlantis on the Sci Fi channel in the other room, but I will be able to hear anyone who talks.

Well, I only saw Bruce in last night for awhile, but the server was working great for me.
Andy and I played until a little after 11 PM last night testing out stuff.
Normally when Andy and I game, we use our telephones with a headset/mic so we can discuss the game, plan strategy, ect.
We turned off the phones and fired up the Team Speak applet mentioned elsewhere, and it is one of the best two way PC communication apps I have ever had the pleasure to use.
We could hear each other just as well as using the phones.
I tired to unbind the F key in UTs settings, but it will only let you change to another one.
For an experiment we tried one of the side mouse buttons on our mice, and it worked perfectly in Team Speak.
No need to use a key on the keyboard.
With my side button setup to speak, I can push it and the main mouse button to fire at the same time.
I highly recommend you install the program for the next time we get together to play.
I will be off and on the server quite a bit today playing.
No need for an expensive mic either, I am using just a cheap PC mic, the kind that has been around for more than 10 years.
In fact mine is from '94.
You also can keep it about 1 to 2 feet away, no need to lean forward to speak.

Cool, glad it was working OK for you.
I have it set now to advertise the game on Epics master server list, and also on Gamespy, so hopefully we can get more humans in there.
The game is also set so up to 32 humans can join in.
I will be turning on the chat applet in there in a bit, and playing for awhile.
I also added the Dana CTF map to the server earlier this morning, so if you want to try it, DL the map from my 4Runner server.
http://www.pnw4runners.com/index.php...e=ctf-dana.zip
You can then select the Dana map from the map list.
It is a hard level, and you only run straight back and forth to each base, but being out in the open makes you an easy target for the bots to pick off.
I like the classic Facing Worlds map from the old original UT, and the one they added with the same name to the 2004 one.
But we also played the newer Facing Worlds last night, and it is a lot of fun too.
You have to learn a few shortcuts to getting in and out of the base, but it was a lot of fun.

This game is sweet Ian.
Aruond 3 to 5 of us play now, but I have "Advertise Server" set on, so it will show to anyone who fires up UT or Gamespy in the master list.
So we could get many more people in.
The way I have it setup now, anyone can vote for maps and we can also change the style of the game from all weapons to just the Instagib.
Here are some vids I shot in game.
http://www.pnw4runners.com/gaming/unreal/unreal.htm
And here is a page I put up showing links to the files you need to add so you have all the maps and the VOIP program we run.
http://www.pnw4runners.com/gaming/unreal/ut2004.htm
The graphics in this game are top notch, and the action is non stop.
I have 10 bots set up in the game too, so you can always battle them when logging onto the server if no humans are present.

Sure have, still have it, the add on packs.
Also have the original WarCraft, and then the better one that improved the interface for connection over Battlenet.
Also have Blizzard's WOW installed right now, as my sons have an account for that game.
I am not really into the RPGs though, I like FPSs such as:
Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament 2004
Quake III Arena
Quake III Team Arena
Starwars Jedi Knight Outcast
Starwars Jedi Knight Academy
(I have the older Jedi Knight II and its add on pack Mysteries of the Sith from '99)
Starwars Battlefront
Half Life 2
See a pattern there?
Mainly all are FPS games.
Ut 2004 is my fave though.
A lot goes on in that game.
