Hey, I was looking in my UT book, and I was able to create that website page you setup for your PC to also work with my PC as a server.
Pretty cool now that I know how to do it.

I am up for starting earlier if I can get home in time Friday night.
I would like to start about 6:30 PM PST?
It would give us some more time to play.

Also going to add a few more maps that will be a kick to play in Team Death Match.
We can also try a game of Invasion, then switch to Onslaught.

Added killybillybarn to Invasion and Team Death Match.
Show of hands for Friday night?

Not sure if I can make it by 6:30, but will try.
I can play later than 8 also, I will record the 2nd showing of SG1 later in the evening...

It's going to depend on how much work I have tomorrow. Today was dead, but usually around this time I'm swamped. I'm thinking it's the calm before the storm.

Well I'm ready to do, but lets shoot for 8 since it seems like that's better for everybody.

So I'm seeing Batman tonight at 8:30, so I can only pretty much play right now or later tonight.

Good news is the UT server is still up and has been up for like a week straight now.

I would like to change gaming night to Saturdays if that is OK.
I pulled an 11 hour shift today, I work 8 most Fridays.
Work is really picking up right now, and this may be happening all summer.
I would like to start in 15 minutes, but getting off work late and with an empty stomach, the gut comes first

Have not eaten a thing since noon PST, and I am starving.
Hopfully I can make it in between 7:30 and 8 PM.

Hopefully Chris will be joining in tomorrow.

My friend is downloading things right now, so I'm not sure how bad the lag will be for me. But lets try.

btw, lag seems to be much improved since rebuilding the server. Also, I have friend who can play as well. Maybe we can get rid of the bots for once.

Had a lot of fun playing with Steve last night.
We gotta get more players

I saw no lag on the server.
The only lag I saw was from running the Fraps software recording a few scenes from the game.
It is very CPU intensive running that and gaming at the same time.

I will be upgrading to the new ATI CAT 5.6 drivers today, and testing the game out with them.
So I will be off & on the serever throughout the day if anyone wants to join in.

17 MB vid from last night.
Compressed down from 7 GB or so.

Added Capture The Flag to dr's server.
When playing any game on his server, if you want to switch game styles, hit Esc and the map voting and game style box will pop up.

Loaded 3 CTF maps I have never played before, as these are from the 2 extra bonus packs I did not have before.
Also loaded Facing Worlds Classic from the original UT game.
I like that better than the one that comes with UT2004.

The 3 I picked from the bonus packs are about the best out of 7 they had.

Gonna try my hardest also to make it by 7 next Friday night.
We have a new player now, Kctopher
Hopefully he can make it Friday night, or Saturday.

Found a small CTF map

I was on a UT2004 forum today and ran across a custom map a guy made.
You have to be a member there to download the maps, so I will host it on my server if anyone wants it to try it out.

12 MB.

He did not have info on where to put the 3 files, so I added some text to his readme.txt file.

There are a couple of "nude" statues in it, but not offensive

dr, feel free to add it to the server if you want, and I can add it to the CTF map rotation list.

I just loaded the "Dana" map into the queue for CTF games.
It is really a small map, but fun.

Hey, my friend Andy (Drew on the forum here) I have posted elsewhere that he is renting two servers.
One serves up two ports for Counter Strike Source, the other one two ports for the new Battlefield 2 demo, and soon the full game.

He might try to setup the dedicated admin UT2004 server software on it.
He already has the 900 MB file on it, but has not got it hooked up all the way yet.

It is not the easiest game to setup in server software only.
He can run that PC via XPs Remote Desktop which is pretty cool.
The CSS server however is Linux.

Just to show you the speed of the server, here is a DSL Reports speed test he did.
2005-06-18 15:49:36 EST: 18344 / 11249
Your download speed : 18784673 bps, or 18344 kbps.
A 2293 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 11519648 bps, or 11249 kbps.

Now compare that to my Comcast cable connection.
2005-06-21 17:55:35 EST: 3319 / 298
Your download speed : 3399390 bps, or 3319 kbps.
A 414.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 305857 bps, or 298 kbps.

I usually get about 4000 for my download, it varies.
You can see his server is more than 4 times faster than my connection for downloading.
His upload is about 37 times faster than mine.

If he can get this setup, we will have a very fast server for us to frag on later.

Still hoping to join dr's server by 7 PM PST or before this Friday night.
Any particular game style to start out with?
Heck, I like Death Match and Invasion the best, but also CTF and kind of Onslaught.
I find Onslaught a lot harder, not use to it, but I do not mind playing it after we play a little of the other for a bit first.

Yo, this is cool.
I have put mod conversions in the past on the old UT.
On my present UT2004 I have a WWII mod called Red Orchestra.
These mods use the UT2004 engine and files, only they have their own maps and players, and other stuff added.

Just ran across one called Air Buccaneers.
http://ludocraft.oulu.fi/airbuccaneers/index.php

There is a vid there if you wanna see it in action.
Ahhh, the things you can find with Google

I think I would much rather have that Stargate conversion, to bad it is not done yet.
That would be cool fighting with a staff weapon or a zat, or a P90 for that matter.
