I tune up my PC every Thursday so it will be humming for the weekend.
I did something last night I had never done before.

I went into the System Restore properties in the Control Panel under System and was doing some reading in there.
If you turn off System Restore, it will auto delete all of your saved points but the last one.

But I kept it running and accessed it from another area and told it to delete the saved points.
Still, it keeps one saved point for you.

To access the area to delete the saved points, go to your Accessories folder on the Start Button, System Tools, then Disc Cleanup.
Hit the advaced tab and you will see System Restore at the bottom.

I was in the Windows Explorer at the same time and was watching my disc space.
After I removed all of the old saved points, I regained about 3.5 GB of space

That is quite a lot of extra space.

 

Thanks for the tip, I also gained back about 3-4 gig.

You can also set how much space system restore is permitted to use. This way you have a safety factor but not one that eats hard disk space.
Another point is that hard disk space is kinda cheap. You can add 80 gigs for under 100 dollars and leave your restore points alone.
