Actually XBox has been gaining a bit but it's number of games is way behind what available for the PS2 but I only play a few sports/racing titles anyway so either would actually suit me fine but the next GTA won't be available on the XBox till it's been exhausted on the PS2 and Gran Turismo will never be available.

The PS3 will be the ˟˟˟˟ and were only about a year or so away from it.

Doesn't XBox's online setup require a subsciption?
XBox's controller is one of the worst designs ever but you can buy others
XBox's graphics are awesome but I've played a few same sports titles side by side and the diff is very hard to notice;Madden and NHL '04 look pretty much the same.

PS2 IMO is my choice because of 3rd party support, ease of online use, more people I know own a PS2 (over 23 mil worldwide vs a few mil for XBox) plus I can still play my old games and that will continue on PS3 which really is the focus since both PS2 and XBox 1 are on the edge of being obsolete already and Sony will have the PS3 out about a year before XBox 2 is supposed to debut.

It's really a wash which one is better and comes down to what YOU want but I prefer the system with a more stable future and XBox's is still iffy according to Microsoft since XBox sales are still in the red.

Xbox II is in the same timeframe. And.. Nintendo just announced a new machine:

You can get both for the same price that they were when they first came out...so just get both.

PS2 has a bigger games library; Xbox has more advanced games and more horsepower left to explore.

Pick one at random, buy it and give yourself a two-week playtest. After that, if you don't like it, sell it on eBay (both systems are going for decent prices for both the seller and buyer), and buy the other one.

Just buy it at Walmart, rented a couple games...and returned the machine 2 weeks later because my new roommate had one. Also took back the spare controlers I bought. No reason for return if you say you want a PS2 instead.

Get the xbox.

I started as a Sony guy (PS1 and PS2) and I will get the PS3 when it comes out. I love my Xbox.

Xbox is faster than PS2 when it comes to loading games, you don't need memory cards but they have'em, controller fits better (S controller it's small) and like Mark said it has some HP to offer for future stuff. PS2 is pegged untill the PS3 comes out.

I bought my Xbox for the sole purpose of Halo but have expaned to tons of sports and action to first person shooters. I also have an extensive library of PS2 games in the same categories. I find my self playing more Xbox. And When friends come over the Xbox comes out first, then the PS2 for the titles you can't get for the Xbox.

Am I making this harder??

Yes you are!!! LOL! I'm leaning more toward the xbox now. I'll probably get the base system and a couple of games. Full Spectrum Warrior looks pretty sweet.

OH YEAH! I have been playing it for a few days now. It is INTENSE! If you do get an Xbox and you get the game and you go online let me know and we can play.

Have you guys had any problems with them? I was thinking of purchasing one from a pawn shop b\c it'd be a little bit cheaper. There is one that has factory refurbished ones also.

I would get a new one unless the pawn shop is willing to take it back. PS2 is more stable in my opinion, my old roommate had PS2 and I have the XBox. I like the xbox more.....
