New Powerbook!

Just got off the phone with apple, and I should have my computer within a week! Takes longer because it's a student loan and in my name.

15" Powerbook
1.67ghz Processor
128MB Video Ram
1GB (2*512) Ram
100GB hard drive
super drive (burns DL)

Also got Microsoft office student edition. If any of you are going to college next year and need a computer, Apple has great student discounts. Got $500 off of this one. Also great, is if you want to pay it off early, they don't charge you. Dell charges you if you want to pay the loan off early.

Ill let you guys know when I write my first post on YT from the new computer!

Sounds like an awesome machine! That's definitely what I'd get if I needed a new PC.

Thats what the guy said when I was ordering it, he said it should last a long time because I planned for upgrades that I would need. It was actually a pleasure dealing with apple, the guy was easy to understand, and was obviously passionate about his job, knew the facts about the product he was selling.

Does anyone here subscribe to .mac? For $100 per year it gives you a webpage, email, and online storage. Im probably going to just get the $10 email for now because hotmail wont work with 'mail' and I get way too much spam and webpage ads.

NICE machine! You'll love it!

I had a 1.5ghz 15" and it died on July 29...Apple finally replaced it, out of warranty, yesterday with a 1.67ghz 15". I love mine, won't trade it for the world. I only have the combo, tho. 1gb of ram rocks!

.mac is only $69 right now...jump on it. .mac homepage is worth it..plus, I dont give out my email a lot and don't get spam!

Curious, how'd you manage to kill your 1.5ghz? I have applecare so i'm not worried at all. I lucked out. No dead pixels even. I have 1.5 gigs of ram but might just spring to get another gig to replace the 512 and make it 2.

Dropped it from 4' onto a concrete slab. Display was ok, logic board was toast...they replaced it..assembled the case incorrectly. Last month it broke again out of the blue and wouldn't charge.

Does it really 'work' with hotmail? I know hotmail wont work with outlook anymore. And when it did, I had to actually sign in over the web to prevent the 30 day lockout. BTW I dont pay for the hotmail service, my email is the free one.

I'm awaiting the release of the g5 powerbooks... almost all of their desktops are using G5's but none of the notebooks have switched. I heard somewhere that it would be next month. Anyone know??

Expect an Intel driven Powerbook first.

And a cheaper one, at that. I can definitely see Apple climbing back to the top before too long.

Yep. I doubt Apple could EVER keep a current-gen G5 cool and powered in the Powerbook case.

yea i'm working 5 shifts in 3 days.. and about 20 days straight. I need a vacation bad..

Intel driven powerbook?? hahahaha no way!! I'm sure they've already developed a cool enough running g5 processor at around 2 ghz that will blow a 3+ghz intel out of the water and still be cooler running. Apple quality is second to none. I'm a graphic arts major and its all we use.
