mmk so i have a acer Aspire one 10.1 screen
and it has a webcam built in
and it's been working amazingly but i noticed tonight that the the computer will not recognize the camera but if you close the screen almost to the point of it it cutting off the web cam works,so pretty much for me to have the webcam work i have to close the screen almost completly

and when i open and close it it makes that ''double beep''
like when you plug a usb in.
anyone have any ideas?

 

what version of Windows, Vista? I always had issues with Vista and drivers for things like cameras or anything else that plugs into a USB drive

try uninstalling the driver for the webcam, and then visiting Acer's web site to see if they offer the driver download, or running the Windows Update utility to reinstall the driver and see if that helps

 

thanks,i figured it out....i'ma just take it back cuz it's not been 90 days and i use skype almost 4 times a day and i kinda need it to work lol

 

oh shoot if it's brand new then yeah just return it for a new one, LOL

Not from the factory but stores might have them stocked. Microsoft had a thing a wile back, if you bought one with vista you could download the 7 patch for free. I had bought my laptop just before this and didn't qualify for the update. Luckily I got 7 pro with the newer office for $20 through my school.

 

Sounds like a wire that's kinked on the hinges, and the insulation is gone and grounding to the hinge. Sometimes these companies get a little sloppy with their work and every now and then one bad one slips through the cracks.

And definitely, don't get vista. Go with windows 7. If you can't get that, get vista and reinstall XP, or buy 7.
