MP3 Players

My son wants a MP3 player and I thought that would be cool (I want one too!!)

Does anyone have one? What are the best? Can you use the music on your CD and convert it to MP3?

I have a lot of questions....I want to hear your input..

Thanks

Lots of info here:
http://reviews.cnet.com/Music/4520-7...tml?tag=dir.bg

http://mp3.com/tech/players_index.php

Some players are flash memory based, others use a hard drive which will hold a lot more music.

You can get shareware or paid programs that will let you "rip" a music CD and convert it to an MP3 file.
Also the latest Windows Media Player which is free will rip a CD to MS's format called a WMA (Windows Media Audio) and many portable players will play back that format.

Dell even makes a decent hard drive based one.
Also "Google" MP3 players, and you will have a whole days worth of info to read.

they all seem to do their job well. the ipod is still the best in my opion and I hate macs, go figure. I recommend getting a mp3 player that uses the same flash card as your digital camera. then you only need one card.

an ipod is the only way to go when it come to mp3 players. The extra cost is well worth the money and the user experince is awesome. download itunes from apple and test it out.

I got this one:
http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=73525&m=0
I use it when I am riding the motorcycle and it works great lots of MP3's and also has FM tunner but as with all the ones I looked at the FM tuners work okay not the best, Its compact and fits in my poket just fine and has a key lockout so you can't accidently change it while its in your pocket. They also have a 128Meg version if your looking at saving a few more dollars.
Plus XP finds it fine no need to install any extra software If your like me I hate bloated sotware, just use XP drag and drop songs.

I have an IPOD and I love it! I used to have a creative, but I ditched that in favor of the IPOD.
