Kindle Fire

I have the Kindle app on my new Droid Bionic, but the Kindle Fire that is coming out looks pretty cool.

Coming out next month.

Looks pretty cool in color, and you can surf the web on it, play any of the games and use apps from the Amazon App Store, and of course read books and magazines in color.
Also does email.

This is something I am considering too. I really want an iPad but this thing falls in the more affordable range. I have over 100 books on my phone but the screen is so small.
And a kindle sized tablet is a little more portable than the iPad.

I pre-ordered one. Runs Flash, too.

This might be the reason Apple cut back their iPad holiday season build drastically from forcast.

You have to pay for a 3G account right?
That could run $30 per month like my data package for my Droid, unless these are Wi-Fi, I have not read up on all of it yet.

Kindle Fire v. 1.0 is wi-fi enabled. Battery life is rated 8 hours but I'm not sure under what conditions so we'll see. Here's one iPad owner's review:

No charge for Kindle E-Reader 3G, Kindle Fire does not have 3G.

It will be interesting to see how this thing does - was actually just reading about it on Amazon.com.

I just placed my order for the Kindle Fire, I will have it Thursday.
Some try to compare it to an iPad, it is not an iPad, nor does it compete with it.

Lots of info on the device at the above link.

I also finally joined the Cloud
I setup my Droid Bionic yesterday via Amazon's MP3 player, and I have Cloud access now via Amazon to store my own music uploaded my home PC, or to store Amazon purchased MP3s and movies.

Tried it out at home, and now the 13 Alice Cooper (showing my age here ) MP3s I bought yesterday show up in the Cloud on my Droid, on my work PC, and of course on my hard drive at home.
The Amazon music shows up under My Documents/My Music/Amazon/name of artist folder, pretty cool, and also my iTunes opened up at home and imported the new purchased tunes into my iTunes library.
Brilliant
