I had to underclock my old Acer... stupid thing kept overheating...
then it up and crapped out on me one day

I guess there was a reason Staples had it so cheap on sale

work just gave me a new Dell D630, and it's killing me to not be able to toy with it, lol. I think IT deparment might not like that... hell they questioned just why I put Irfanview on it, lol.

Very nice.
I build all of mine too, and I built this gaming rig with the latest stuff a few Christmas's ago.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f98/...-sound-133230/
Changed a few specs, here is what it currently has.
Case - Antec 900 Gamer | PSU - Thermaltake ToughPower 650 Watt | Motherboard - Asus P5N32-E | CPU - Intel Duo Core 3.0 GHz E6850
Ram - Corsair PC-8500 2 GB | Hard drive - Seagate SATA II 320 GB | Video Card - EVGA 8800 GTS 512 MB | Soundcard - Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Logitech Z680 Speakers | Asus MW221u 22" Widescreen | DVD/CD - Pioneer DVR-112D | Deck Legend Keyboard | Logitech G9 Mouse | XP Pro
I will probably wait a few more years to build my next gaming rig.
This one has plenty of life left in it for todays games.

I wish I had a comp like Super. haha.
I built mine back on 06. it was mostly middle of the line stuff.
AMD 3000+ over clocked to 2.4ghz
I forget what mobo im using.
Evga 7800gt 256mb ram.
2gbs of PC3200
120gb and 160gb SATA HDDs from western digital
550w PSU
Huge 120 copper heatsink from Zalman.
4 120mm case fans from silverstar (adjustable to sound like a jet)
Moded case to fit them, 1 at the top, 1 at the back, 2 in the window.
19'' flatscreen, 2ms responce time.
It was awesome back in 06-07. now its all full of movies and music, thanks to my neighbor for the unsecured wireless N.

Not too bad look'n!
but I only spy a single 8600gts
you need to put some zip-ties around those wires man
I had a Zalman on my previous computer that this one replaced; definately worth every penny
nothin too special; Dual Core Pentium D 940 @ stock 3.2ghz, 4gb RAM, 2 300gb HDs, MSI 8600 GT. Just wasn't enough for me
so I gave it to my sister when I built this one, and it's working fine for her
lol, oh and the "Sheet" sticker on the side, was made from a StreetGlow stick

ah ok, got cha!
later on, I plan on getting a second ATI 4800 and cross-firing those bad boys
when the time comes that I need it though... my single's doing me perfectly fine for now, lol
same with the memory; I'm running 6gb right now, but later I plan on doubling that up with another 6gb to have 12gb total
that's the one thing I love about a 64bit OS; you can have as much memory as you can stuff in it

well it's actually 3 2gb sticks, running in tripple channel. I still have 3 more slots upen that I can use
I COULD run a total of 24gb in this computer, but let's get real, I'll never use that much... hell I'll probably never use all of 12gb
but they came matched in a kit, like $150 I think... Corsair XMS3... really not as much as you would think!
