I think you mean "more than suits the needs of the majority of consumers, many of whom would be happy with a 486, who exist solely to surf the web and sync their iPods."

Heh, we only got Newegg here in Soviet Canuckistan about a year ago, but I bought the #$@% out of a lot of stuff there when I was still in Orlando. I actually use (and recommend to all my Comrade Canuckistanis) shopbot.ca, which gets price quotes from basically every Canadian online retailer, though there is a core of retailers that I will go through. Usually buy a lot of stuff from NCIX/Direct Canada and Infonec as well as the Newegg, which is where my EEEpc came from.

well gosh darn it...

installed the new cable, and it's still doing the same thing

it needs a new LCD...

let's see if I can scrounge eBay for maybe a whole laptop that wont power on or something

This is a common laptop problem. The belt that attaches the screen gets loose inside, and you need to change that belt to get back to your normal color screen.

ummm, as far as I can tell, from physically handling the LCD and through research, there's no way "change that belt" aside from replacing the LCD assembly...


it is a common problem, yes, but the common solution is replace the LCD
