My new "hobby" is editing movies on the computer. I'm starting with Movie Maker, mainly because it's already installed on the computer, and it's pretty user friendly for a beginner.

I can't figure out how to add music to my movies though! I can add music files like the "sample" ones that came on the computer, but I can't add my own music. My music is stored in LimeWire, so I go under local disk, program files, then click on LimeWire, but none of my music shows up.

I've browsed pretty much all my files and I can't find the songs. I even saved a playlist to my desktop, and that doesn't even show up.

I'm running out of ideas, please help!!

 

hmm i just tried it and all i had to do was go to File -> import into collections, then select a song... make sure you set files of type to where your music will show up.

 

When you try to open the file, make sure the file type reflects the files you're looking for. Right under the "Files" dropdown box, you'll see one labeled "Files of Type". If you just change that to "All", you should be able to see the files then.

However, I'm not sure if only certain files work with Movie Maker.

 

I might have to take a better look when I get home from work tonight, but what format is your music in MP3? Try converting it to WMA and see if that makes a difference.

doesn't specify a format but you know how funny Microsoft can be.

Also it might be some kind of copy protection rights keeping them from showing up.
In Windows Media Player >main menu > Tools > Options > CD Audio tab > uncheck the Enable Personal Rights Management option.

 

mp3s should work in WMM. at least they do on my computer...

 

ok I did some playing and any type of music works MP3 WMA WAV, like stated above make sure it is looking for "All Media files" types.

Check you music protection rights. If you still are having problems there is a WMM users forum just google it and ask away there.
