FireFox Scrolling

I love the scroll wheel on my mouse like a fat kid loves cake. However, I can't get over the fact that Firefox will only scroll down like one line at a time whereas IE6 will go like 3 or 4. How can I fix this? I did a google search, but didn't return any results that actually worked.

Not sure, might be something with your computer. My scrolling works normally with firefox and IE. You can change the scroll settings in the Windows>Control Panel>Mouse, but I don't know why it is different for one program from another.

Maybe Options--> Advanced --> Browsing. There is a box with "Smooth Scrolling." I haven't had any problems though.

dont do smooth scrolling it will make it even slower...

its a known thing with Firefox. I believe the only thing you can do is get used to it. IE is just designed to scroll alot faster then Firefox is. I actually prefer Firefox's since I can read at a scroll rate.

I'm pretty lucky though I didnt get a mouse with a wheel until after I was using Firefox so I never noticed the difference. I actually get annoyed with it when I use IE. Sorry I cant be of more help...

There MIGHT be some sort of "key" you can change to make it scroll faster plus smooth scrolling with make it very much similar to IE. I dont know how to modify the keys in Firefox though.

There is, but it doesn't actually "take". Might be a bug they're trying to fix.

There are a couple of different ways to get to the data key you're looking for....

In general, you're looking for "mousewheel.withnokey.numlines", it defaults to 1 which is the source of your trouble.

The slick way is to install the Preferential extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...nfo.php?id=461

Then browse to MouseWheel / MouseWheel.WithNoKey / MouseWheel.WithNoKey.NumLines

Hit CTRL-ENTER on that line and set it to what you'd like.

You can also type "about:config" in the URL line (no quotes), scroll down to MouseWheel.WithNoKey.NumLines, double click on the line and change it to what you'd like.

Note that you can also set options to change their behavior based on using other key combinations.

Now, with either option, you also have to set MouseWheel.WithNoKey.SysNumLines to FALSE. If you don't, then the value in the other field won't take affect. (chris, this may have been the reason you saw it not work)

Have fun!

YES!!!!!!! You are DA_MAN, Mark!!!!!!!!

I had been doing the first thing all this time, and I never knew about the SysNumLines being changed to false part. Works like a charm now!

You can also add the smoothwheel extension which has a setting for fast scrolling.
