Emulators

Any of you guys play with old console Emulators?

I was bored today and decided to play around with mine. I forgot how much fun some of the old games where.

Anyway I download GENS32. Which is a Genesis, 32x, and Sega CD emulator. I also have RockNES with is a Nintendo Emulator.

I took a screen shot of the fun.....

I dunno you guys might not find this interesting. Buts its like a look back in time for me, considering I grew up on this stuff...

well after i've done some reading it seems like certain things are illegal and some arent. pretty much some of these companies arent even around anymore, so there isnt anyone to "sue" you. Regardless its kinda dumb, I've been downloading ROM's from www.romnation.com and I cant download Mario because of copyright laws. I mean is Nintendo still marketing Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt somewhere?

How exactly am I stealing money from playing a game that isnt even made or sold anymore?....I dunno maybe they are watching out for those hillybillies selling Super Mario Bros at yard sales across the nation...

Regardless, I'm having a blast.

I have purchased a few sets of ROM's from www.allmyroms.com. They have always worked perfectly and arrived within a week of ordering.
Its the easiest way to go since downloading them is so hard to do now. The cost for each set is only to cover this person's material costs for blank cd/dvd's, copying, and shipping them to you.

i was actually able to find a *.rar file with pretty much every single NES game in it. Took a while to down load since it was a few hundred meg. But they all work great.

Romnation.com has MOST games. A few you need to subscribe for, like SNES games and Sega CD games. That probably has alot to do with the sheer size of those game files. 60 meg or so. Thats not really alot but thats a lot of bandwidth to give away.

its great if you get them for your xbox. just get a mod chip and a bigger hard drive and then you can save the emulaters and save xbox games on the hard drive of your xbox. hint hint* no more mess of discs and no more mess of paying for games. hint hint* not legal.

I like the old MSX games. This was a computer standard adopted by sony, philips, toshiba, and some other companies. It never made it to North America, but was big in Europe and Asia.
It was a home computer which booted into basic like an commodore 64. It did have 3.5" floppy drives, and a basic version called MSX-Dos. This was copyrighted by Microsoft.
Mine also had two ROM slots, which companies like Konami used for releasing their games. They would even put a better sound chip on those ROMs for a better game experience. When you would stick two konami games into the computer (1 in each slot) , some games would give you special bonuses or advantages when playing.
It is too bad that standart went south, since it had a lot of potential.
