copying cd problems

I;ve got itunes for use with my ipod mini and I have this cd and i put it in earlier to copy it over to itunes. Well I get home from work and I come upstairs and click on the song...it's skipping. So I click on the next song...skipping..I'm like what the heck. This has never happened with any cd yet and I've got 900 songs from cd's on this itunes. I don't know what the problem is. I am thinking it's the cd? Do cd's come with protection against copying?? This would be crazy. What would be the point of that if you couldnt put it on your ipod or other mp3 player? I tried to copy with my media player as well and it didn't work...so I'm thinking its the cd. What should I do? Any ideas?

Thanks!

If it's a cheap brand CD, that could be the problem. Or if it's a cheap burner, that could also be the problem. Or if it's both, you've definitely got a problem.

you may have to burn the cd onto your computer using something that came with the cd, like an "extra features" thing. the velvet revolver cd had this, where you put it in, and it gave you an option of burning it onto your computer, but you had to register it. same with the new 30 seconds to mars record.

churnd it isnt either one of those thanks..

when i put the cd in, a screen comes up to ask me if i agree with the terms of agreement, talking about only for personal use etc etc...if you click 'i agree', nothing happens.. if you click 'i disagree', the cd pops out of the drive. This is super confusing and kinda aggrivating since I got them to put them on my mp3 player...

Any other ideas?

you could just download the album off bittorrent and call it even.

Technically, yes. Even though you have the CD, and thus the right to listen to the contents of it, if the publisher of the CD has in fact implemented some sort of ripping/copy protection on the CD, then getting the tracks from a P2P service would be circumventing the protection and thus be illegal.

What CD is it? Is your host machine a Windows or Mac based box? Is the skipping random or synced - i.e., is it 1 second out of every 10?

Have you tried just ripping the tracks to the PC first and seeing if it skips then? Oh wait... "I've got 900 songs from cd's on this itunes" - do you mean that you haven't yet tried to put it on the Mini, and this is just a local rip to the machine?

The fact that you get a TOA message when you put it in, and that it "does nothing" when you afree is actually signifigant. That "does nothing" is actually something - it didn't spit the CD out.
