Getting crappy results yesternight and this morning from the site.
http://www.speedtest.net/index.php
However using Speakeasy's site my speeds are around the same as the previous site.
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
Last Result:
Download Speed: 17182 kbps (2147.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1546 kbps (193.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Anyone else getting a very low speed test to this one?

Might be a routing issue going on in my neck of the woods, but my speed is fine elsewhere.

I knew mine would suck, my phone line was installed by Alexander Graham Bell himself with a shovel many years ago.
Speakeasy says 656 kbps down & 313 kbps up for me (from Dallas instead of Plano) so pretty close.
Edit: Oh yeah by the way...that's SBC Yahoo DSL!!
It's their slowest speed but the interesting thing is when I had their fastest speed DSL my speed tests were nearly identical for nearly double the price. So the moral of the story is: "Steer clear of SBC Yahoo DSL!!"

No, it could be the equipment Bob.
I use to have a Toshiba cable modem a few years back, but it kept dropping my Vonage telco calls, people could not hear me, and the forum would also not load sometimes.
Turns out Comcast did an upgrade that rendered the old modem useless.
After extensive search on DSL Reports forums, I found out the best cable modem to use with Comcast is the Motorola Surfboard 5100.
There is a 5120 available I think from Bestbuy, but the 5100 is the better one.
I am leasing mine from Comcast for $5 a month.
If you have another modem besides that one, give them a call and tell them you want to try out the 5100.
Hands down it is the best one for their service.
I can be gaming online and using the telephone to yak with my friends as we are playing, and there are no drops in quality.
I just have the normal service with them too that gives you 8K download I think, but as you can see I get around 20K a lot.
That is with their speedburst kicking in too.

Meh, maybe it's location after all. I have the 5100 but will call Comcast to check firm/software for upgrades.
I'm looking forward to Verizon fiber optic network when I move into my new neighborhood later this year. Speeds are up to 50 Mb I think for their top tier package.

it's usually a bit faster than that, about 500 or so.
