Comcast will be going to a new portal page in the near future.
Here is a preview of it.
http://preview.comcast.net/

And for one you can use the "Fan" video feature on this page without having to log in first.

If you click on mail, you can sign in, and it will take you to the regular webmail on the main Comcast.net site.

Nice! Maybe I'll finally start using it. The UI is so awkward now that I hardly ever go there. Are you able to link to photos in their storage area from here?

Wow I like that a lot better! Now if they'd get the speeds right, I'd be happier

I use my "two" accounts with Comcast to host vids and other files here.

Some of the vids I put up here inline I do not want eating up bandwidth on my pnw4runners account, so I use Comcast for the vids and MP3s that you may see on the forum from time to time.

Linking works perfectly from Comcast.
I just can not view my folder in the browser to choose files, so I must know the file name and location via Cute FTP before I post them here.

You can always use their FTP client to view files, that is if they still have one.
@Homeless use to have that web based interface FTP client, but I am not sure if Comcast still uses it or not.

Corey -

What address do you use to FTP to Comcast? I've been trying to use my space for a while and couldn't figure out the right address.

Also, which address looks at the directory? (such as if I want to just see the files on any web browser, not upload them)

Chris, you can not view your files from a browser tree.
I even have some hacks in there that I use on my pnw server to allow me to see all files, but it does not work with Comcast.
If you can figure it out, please let me know.

I even have a file in there called htaccess in the root folder which is suppose to allow you to view all files from a browser, but it does not work with them.

Anyway, to use Cute FTP or any other 3rd party FTP client:
FTP host address:
upload.comcast.net

FTP site username:
Your accout name with Comcast.
Remember, you can create upto 7 accounts I think at 25 mb each.
Pretty good.

FTP site password:
same as your email password for said account.

You may have to activate your web account first though via the comcast.net page under your account management area.

You can see here that you can not browse my folders, and I would really like full access to it so I can host files when I look them up to be easier:
http://home.comcast.net/~c.tando/
I made the simple index page above.
But, if you type it "temp", you can not view my contents.
This is what I want fixed.
http://home.comcast.net/~c.tando/temp

The above folder has a lot of files in it too.

This page here is where I learned the hack to make folders viewable.
http://www.ccs.neu.edu/webadmin/dir_listing.html
That is how I set up my pnw4runners site, and it works perfectly, it just does not work with Comcast.

That's all I want to do, is to be able to upload files and see them in my root directory. I have space on my dad's family account that lets me do this, but I guess with Comcast it's just not possible. That really sucks, because being in college, I find it really convenient to use IE and FTP to upload/download my schoolwork instead of using floppy disks.

Oh well, just another reason Comcast bites it.

EDIT: I guess one way to do it would be to create a simple web page of links to download the files you want. But that kinda sucks too because in order to "see" the file, you'd have to update the web page.

More info Chris.

It is confirmed, Comcast does not allow you to view your files and folders with a browser.
That really sucks, and why I only use my space with them to host huge files such as movies or MP3s.

It is the .htaccess file that you upload to other servers that allows you to view your stuff, but Comcast blocks it.
I am sure some bonehead there has a reason why they do it.
