NX, try running the "system summary" and "mainboard info" modules then use the icon at the bottom to "copy to clipboard" and then post it here. The info you posted told us a little bit but I need more specs on the motherbaord to tell you anything about it.

here's the Windows menus to get you system information

Start> All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information

Also recommend PC Wizard 2004 -> It's free @

http://www.cpuid.com/download/pcw2004_v163.exe

ALSO VISIT http://www.BLACKVIPER.com for more PC info about setup and getting the most out of your PC. I have successfuly been using info from Black Viper for over 4 years. Heck, he's better than Intel's customer service!!!

[QUOTE=NX Tacoma]So today we get new computers for the office's, I am thinking sweet... fast...high tech computers! Well I guessed wrong, they are Dell Dimension 2400 with a Celeron! How much cheaper can they get(I guess I am taking up the extra money on my pay check's! ) , they are the SLOWEST computer I have ever seen!

someone said replace it with an AMD. won't work at all. u can put a p4 chip in as a direct replacement but it won't help too much. the resone the 2400 is so cheap is becuase everything is integrated onto the mother board. the board structure is simply a bad desighn. thats why they have a 2400 a 4200 and an 8200 in the same box differnt motherboards. a p4 chip will help. more ram with help more than a chip

why do u need to remove xp home nothing wrong with it? The only difference from xp home and pro is pro has the abilities to host a DNS server. In the work place u access a separate server so there no need for it. and at home if u wanna run a web server go for it. Otherwise nothing is different. If windows is screwing up go to windows update and update everything. Then update all drivers on the system. Changing the OS isn't going to solve it. Though it may appear to since a fresh install will reset everything to default and would probably work right. Get some maintenance software and some more memory.

I kept XP home instead of changing it to pro, the Dell CS said the same thing as you.....their not much of a difference.

I still have a problem with the speed, you said more memory.....is that going to be hard to install(remember I am a computer jack ? What memory do recomend?
