My download is running too. I'm going to host it on my server for anyone else that's interested. I'll let post here when I have it up. It's going to be password protected to preserve bandwidth, and I will change the password daily. You'll have to PM me to get the current password. Bandwidth is my main concern. If I'm using too much, they'll shut me down, as it's just a test server. So I'd like to limit the use to Yotatech members. If you share the PW with close friends and family on the same day, they can get it too. Otherwise, just share your copy somehow.
Please read www.microsoft.com/vista to see if your machine will handle it. You'll also need a DVD burner to burn the .ISO image.

The best thing I can say is that MANY *MANY* of the _developers_ machines around _here_ (yes, I'm talking about "THERE") are NOT capable of showing all of the new stuff. It's quite the hog.
But, Vista will come up and tell you what you can/can't handle. It won't try to do things it doesn't think your machine can make happen.

Let me know, my PM is on.

Just tried to install. Got halfway through to where it shows ~98% copying files to the hard drive, and it freezes. I tried twice, and got the same result. Not sure if it's my old DVD drive, or the image itself. I'm trying to find out how to check MD5 sums if possible. I'm downloading it again just in case. Might just be that I need a better DVD drive, or a better test machine.

Ha. I'm so over Vista already (it helps when your company has a subscription to MSDN
). It does look nice, but there are things about it I hate, namely the way the file browser works. I love the current Explorer and hate the faux-Mac deal they have. I have no problem with the Mac style (still like Explorer better), but the way MS did it is crappy and annoying. Also, I don't like how they got rid of the program menu (the little icon in the upper-left of any window open).
