Anybody using windowblinds nowadays?

As the title says, how are you liking it? I am wondering if it is worth the money. I see all the nice screenshots, but they don't turn out quite the same with the trial version. Some of them have the button bar like the mac has, but I haven't been able to get that yet.

Just curious of other experiences out there.

I've fooled around with it. It's fun to use on a fast machine where you won't notice the performance drop too much. It does eat up some resources, though.

My machine is a P4 3.0E (Hyperthreaded) with 1gig of RAM, no problem there. It seems to me that WB is loaded on top of the windows explorer. I am not sure if there are replacement window managers out there for windows. Linux uses that concept of different window managers on top of X.

Right, it just skins explorer. I've had instances where the software that company writes leaves behind traces of it's programs here and there. No big deal... just annoying.

Essentially XP is also just skinning the explorer. You can turn most of the visual features off, and it will look like Win2K again.

I use an old proggy called RegClean Expert, and it is amazing what it finds for old traces in the registry. I ran it on my wifes computer, and it really sped it up a lot.
XP has been installed for over a year on that thing, and she has an habit of trying out software she comes across.
She figures when she uninstalls it, it's gone. Not quite so, those uninstalled programs really have a tendency to bloat your registry with unused keys, paths, etc.
