Wilson 1000 Tech question

Can I get away w/o tuning it? The instructions say I may not need to tune it.
Can I try it out or will it fry my CB?
It's a Wilson 1000 mag mount
Thanks

If you are using a stock CB then yes you can get away with not tuning it to the antenna. If you are running heat then you would want to tune it. You probably wouldn't fry your radio, but it would be less efficient when transmitting. Just like with your rig tuning = better performance, but it may not be enough for you to even notice. So if you have a plain jane CB you may get better performance in receive or transmt. Lots of folks just slap on an antenna and go, but I tuned mine cause I got a little heat and like to talk skip.

I've got a Wilson "Lil Wil" and it needed tuning badly. I was in the red on an channels. I ended up cutting approx. 2" off to get it down to 1-1.5. You should get it checked unless the 1000's are set that much better straight from the factory.
