Does someone make a hand held one that has rca outs so that I could hook that up? Or how do factory navs work with the indash screen? Thanks

factory nav systems usually have some kind of computer running in there.. they do a lot more than just nav (at least on the BMWs that i've seen)

The processing unit itself has programming that uses the nav map info. So you can't just put a map CD into the DVD - nothing will happen.

You *might* be able to use a handheld and jack it into an input to use the vid screen if your HU has such a jack, but I doubt it. I can use my handhelds with my laptop - but there is a program running on the laptop in conjunction with it. IF you could though, you'd still have to manpulate it with the handheld - not too convenient.
