New Ham Licence

Today I went and passed my TECH test for my ham licence it was not to hard missed 2 questions but knew it when I turned it in exactly which ones they were. I did 1 1/2 days of studying from the link COREY posted with his on on this post

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f97/...ight=ham+radio

I found out last night about a local ham club that does the tests for free so I crammed last night and for 3 hours today and will say this link is a good study point it cycles through 300 questions so you have to answer every test question on the tech test at least one time and it shows you the correct answer if you do get any wrong.

I get my new call sign Monday evening from the club F.C.C. administrator and the hard copy in 7-10 days. Next month I am going to take the general through the club and it is free also and if you fail they let you take it twice in the same day if you fail with in reason or you can come back when they have the tests again and its still free as long as the club is sponsoring it and no you don't have to join there club but I did since it's only $20 a year and I can go play on there set up anytime another club member is there.

Anyway the point I am trying to make is if you want to take the test use the link to QRS COREY linked and search out your local area for a club and see if you can test there for free if they sponsor it save yourself $15 per test and the cost of the study guides up $25 bucks a book for each level you take maybe you have to join the local club for $20 a year but you still save quite a few bucks this way.

Thanks for posting the links to the QRS COREY I have put this off for way to long now I am legal with up to 1500 watts but I only have a 375 linear for now and my 10 meter radio but like my 3 4runners it will grow and grow and never be quite finished looking at a 20 and 40 meter radio now got a free 25 ft tower to start with for my base too.

Congratulations!
I gave up studying for awhile, and have not finished my radio installation as of yet.
To many other projects on my plate right now.
I hope to get back into it before the year is over.

I'll take my test on the 4th of August - install the Yaesu 8900 in the 4Runner last night. Waiting on antenna (ordered). I'll post pics later today.

Tech or general? Either way good luck to you when you pass you will have a good time talking to places you have only heard stories about but go with a 20/40 meter to talk to the world.

I'm an Army Communications Officer (8 more years till retirement!) ... I shouldn't be too surprised.

Anyhow - My roommate convinced me to get in on the Ham thing - in fact we're about to run out for some more beer and then sit on the porch listening to 155.010 (local PD channel) ... good times!
