you get what you pay for, esp w radar detectors. you are not going to get a quality one for under $200.

valentine 1
passport 8500

search those two models on the forum. theyve been talked about extensively

what are yalls opinion on the passport 8500? my friends have been talking about them alot and i have really been thinking about spending that money on getting one.. also what is yalls opinion on the valentine 1? i dont speed much anymore, but i am underage and i always have a ice chest full of beer, the sherriffs i dont worry about cause my friends dad is a sherriff and he cares about me like his own kid, so they are out the way.. the police im scared of.. i know only 1 policeman who is pretty cool when it comes to having beer being underage... i also go to parties and come home super late, around here they are pretty strict about what time you have to be in.. these are the only reasons why i have them, so not to get busted with beer.. my parents know i drink but i never drive drunk or let my friends, but i just want to know where the police are..

You should search... The membership is about split between the 8500 and the V1. I have the 8500 and love it, a buddy has a V1 and loves it. That about how it goes around here.

They're both excellent detectors. One up that I know for the Escort is that you can add-in a ZR3 laser _JAMMER_system which is pretty cool.

my dad and i both have the 8500 x50 and we love them, i had a few cobras in the past that never compared to them, my friend has a v1, 8500, and a 8500 X50 and he uses the 8500 x50 and loves it, his brother love v1 and uses it with a laser shifter, but i would only get one of the two or save my money.

My v1 has always given me plenty of warning, sometimes unbelievable impossible warnings (twenty minutes driving at 65 down the Oregon coast before I passed the cop racing the other way). Others may also be great, but I have no complaints about my V1.
