GPS flickers when the blinker is on

Just got a Magellan 760 so I could learn how all this GPS stuff works and so far everything is great. The only issue I have is that sometimes the unit will flicker or turn off when I use the blinkers. Is there some sort of internal voltage regulator on these things?

Could be a poor power or ground connection up front. I assume you are using the factory lighter socket, if so the power for that is typically pretty dirty. I found the one in my '85 was not very steady, voltage changed with varying electrical loads. I later re-wired the socket straight to the battery (fused of course) and now have rock steady power. Plus the socket now has constant power, even with the keys out of the ignition.

X2 on what 4crawler said , my lighter socket in my 88 4runner is the same and may do what 4crawler did.
