Firestiks Fire Ring antenna lead

Who here has used the Firestik coax with the Fire Ring at the end?
http://firestik.com/Catalog/K-8R18.htm

I am use to old school where you have two wires at the end.
One for the antenna, the other for the ground.

Can you get a good ground this way, and if so, how?
Is it utilizing the antenna base for a ground instead?

I am rounding up new CB components for the installation in the future FJ Cruiser.

It will be interesting also where I end up putting a mount for the antenna since the FJC can not take a standard hood mount.
May mount it back by the spare tire until I put on an ARB bumper in the future.

I have the ring around mine, I just used it in conjunction with the firestik mount(same one bob had on his write up)

I Didnt worry about grounding or anything. It works great.

I run the same setup--no problems. I got the mount and coax as a package deal on ebay.

Thanks Matt, found the article.

Looks like the Fire Ring grounds itself from the antenna base then.

Will have to get the mount as my very last item of components I am rounding up, as I do not know yet what will work with the FJC.
Many have not installed a CB yet into this rig.

Thanks Mark, looks good back there.

I got that cable Corey, works great, no problems. Now to just get my antenna/CB "tuned" properly so my reception/broadcasting is more than a mile or two.

Ham radio antenna cables have been using that sort of thing for years.
