CB Feedback from adjusting mirrors and something in HVAC...

I installed a Cobra 18WXSTII over the weekend, and it works great minus 2 things.

First, something in the HVAC system (sounds like a vent closing or something of that nature) is causing feed back at times. I'm not sure exactly what it is, as I heard the noise of whatever before and wondered what it was, but now with the CB, when it goes, it creates horrible feedback.

Also, when adjusting the mirrors, I also get horrible feedback. My ground wire is up around the E-Brake handle on a 3rd gen 4runner. This mounts directly to the body, and has been sanded for metal to metal contact.

The CB coax to the antenna runs under the pedals and into the engine bay, then down the underside of the car.

Does anyone else with a 3rd Gen 4Runner get this feed back with their CBs and if so, any way to fix?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Might try a different ground wire location. On my '85, I ran power and ground wires directly from the engine fuse box up front back to the CB for the cleanest signal:

I have my CB grounded directly to the battery, along with the power wire and I also get bad interference from the power mirrors. My antenna is on the passenger side fender so the coax runs from the centre console behind the glove box and through the firewall. I've never had any problems from the heater/Ac system though.

I've never tried to fix the mirror issue, I don't move them very often so I just live with it.

Eric you may find that the mirrors have a poor ground and may be causing a dirty return back to the batt. not that it would be a major issue in any case...
if signal noise continues to be an issue there are electronic boxes you can set on the power and ant. lines of stereos and I believe they are available for comms. radios too.

One day I may look into it, I'm sure on a 9 year old vehicle a lot of the grounds could do with cleaning up. But I only ever move the mirrors when I'm offroad and want to see the where the rear tires are going so I can live with a bit of noise. It only affects my CB, the ham radio doesn't have a problem, neither on VHF nor UHF.
