CB Antenna Brackets

Anyone know a good place to buy cb brackets for mounting the cb antenna to my rig? Crash FINALLY after 4 years installed my cb (thanks to the extra help from the fall colors run guys hehe), bought a new antenna for it but we don't have the mounting hardware for it so I need the bracket for attatching it to the hood area.

I really like the brackets that Truck City CB sells. They bolt into the fender using existing bolts and stick out between the fender and the hood. Low profile and secure

Yeah I liked yours. I told Michael we should just steal yours but you never left your truck long enough
Ok Truck City CB?? Where is that? I looked it up on google and got a bunch of sites for cb lingo although I did find a site that has some brackets I think.

Federal Way and Tacoma. A bit of a drive from the North End, but it's the only CB shop I use anymore. You might be able to get a member who is more local to pick one up and ship it to you via the "YotaTech Express", or if you are willing to wait a bit I could pick one up the next time I happen to be in the area and ship it to you via ChrisCo.

BTW, you may want to check out our Tahuya run in November... It's another one that's fun for the family and most everything has bypasses if your better judgement gets the best of you...

Mrs. Crash, I have the one from Truck City laying around somewhere I think.
You can see pics here.

If I can find it, it is yours.
I no longer have a need for it since I use the mount on my ARB now.

The local CB shop that I found about a month ago has some really neat mounts. They have one that has a plastic molded base. None of the wires is exposed. Looks like something from the factory. They run about $15. It is used to mount on the side or back of the vehicle. Really nice looking, but you would probably have to drill a few hole though. I'm just using a mount that goes between my fender and hood right now. Seems to be working good so far. If you want me to pick one up I can do that.

Well have fun.

wow thanks for all the info guys. I've spent a good day searching info about brackets and ran across a few of those lingo sites and I feel like a trucker already I emailed the Truck City place along with another place. I gave Crash all the info as well. He's too tired to ingest it though.
Corey that would be great if you did have an extra one. I can pay you for it.
DH6 Thanks for the offer of looking for me also. I have a feeling shipping from the east coast would cost more then the bracket though lol
The Truck City in Fed Way isn't too bad of a drive for me if I need to head out that way to pick one up if they have what I need. Heck I used to drive up North to NWOR all the time when we actually liked them.

ok so I'm finally going to go to Truck City Thursday if they are open so here's a stupid question since I'm not familiar with either area. Is Tacoma farther away from me or Federal Way?

Federal way is 30 minutes north of Tacoma, so it's a better bet for you.

Mrs. C... It might be closer for you to head north up to ALF Enterprises:

http://www.alfenterprises.com/
18933 59th Avenue NE
Suite 108
Arlington, WA 98223

Alvin ("ALF") is a great guy... He has all that stuff in stock as well.

Just head west on 2 to 5 north, get off at exit 206 and you're about 3 miles away:

Wow thanks. Didn't know about that place. Figures I was up just off that exit yesterday too lol. My inlaws live off the lakes up there. And thanks for the directions I was having a heck of a time getting mapquest to give me directions for the one in Federal way. I think I can even go to this place sooner. Thank you.

Cool! glad to help.

Alvin's usually there from about 9-3. Give him a call first and see if someone will be there. His wife (I think) is usually there longer hours though.

They usually have a decent stock of stuff in the office - he's not really setup for a lot of foot traffic, but keeps the more common stuff around. Let 'em know what you're looking for and if he doesn't have it, then he can have it in the store the next day. It's not a large "store front", it's around the back of building across from the airport up there and he maintains a warehouse nearby for stock.

So... like Rob said... There's a familyish run out in Tahuya this weekend. It'd be a good chance to try out the new CB!

Crash is going to be gone all weekend at an anual run he goes on with one of the clubs he belongs to and I had my truck detailed last month so as much as it hurts to miss this run I'm going to have to. It looks like so much fun though so hopefully everyone takes pics.

On the Cb side, I already pretty much know what kind of bracket I need so I assume I don't really need to bring the antenna itself? Also do you know if he does installs? Since Crash will be gone and his schedules usually busy anyway I was thinking that if he did do installs maybe I'd just bring it with me and see if he can do it. The Cb is in. Just not the antenna.

aye...

Alvin may... once you meet him you'll see how it's hard to see him crawling in and around a rig. Considering it's just an antenna, then he might be up for it. Again, give him a shout for your best answer.

As for bringing the antenna... I'm assuming it's just the "standard" threaded end, so no... you should need to bring it with. BUT! I'd play it safe so that you can be sure and only make one trip up there. Unless of course you like your in-laws.

I got a Firestik stainless steel antenna mount for my Runner. It goes in between the tailgate and rear quarter panel. I got it with an 18ft. coax cable for less than $30 shipped. I think... Here's a pic:

Crash decided he wanted the kind that mounts to the hood/fender area. I've read that's not really the best area to install them but since I'm not a hardcore cb'er I'm not sure I will worry too much about where it is right now. That rear one doesn't look too bad though.

I know you have gotten a lot of feedback for places to find brackets in the area, but one that might be closer for you in Gold Bar might be Cascade CB in Lynnwood. My brother got his whole CB setup there, including the bracket to mount the antannea to the fender/hood area, and the guys really treat you right...even for CB novices like my bro and I. Their info is:

Cascade CB
(425) 742-9891
17602 Highway 99
Lynnwood, WA 98037

Hope this helps and best of luck with the bracket search.
Anthony
