Hi, I have been having some issues lately with using anything but my standard fiberglass antenna. I have another antenna that is tunable and for some reason when I put it on I can receive fine but when I transmit all it transmits is a loud buzzing noise. I thought maybe it needed to be tuned, but my friend has the same antenna on a similar radio (radioshack) and has been using it for over a year w/o problems like mine. Any help greatly appreciated.

Maybe a bad antenna? If your other antenna works fine both ways then you know it's not something internal in your CB.

 

Check the antenna with a meter and if it looks OK, beg/buy/borrow an SWR meter and check it out:
