Wiring harness problems
Okay so I finally got everything wired up and my deck does work, but.......its very loud and has alot of static. my only guess of the cause was the fact that the wiring harness I got makes me ground all of the deck wires to a single ground, instead of each individual speaker. what do you guys think
p.s.
im so sick of dealing with this deck

you mean you bought a wiring harness that converts the speakers to common ground? yuk!
That's most likely your problem, a GOOD harness will have 8 wires for the speaker leads -
white and white trace front left
gray and gray trace front right
green and green trace left rear
purple and purple trace right rear
(trace wires are negative)
Walmart has our harnesses for like 7-8 bux.
BTW what type of deck do you have? Some of the older jensens had common level ground outputs which made wiring a PITA and sound quality suffered...

okay on my lunchbreak i went to a stereo shop and talked to them and showed them my car, he told me the only reason i was getting a "hissing" sound was because im still running the stock amp, he said the best thing to do would be to remove that amp and wire frome the harness that used to plug into it.. so guess what im doin tonight

time out time out time out!!!
Do NOT rip out the stock amp there is an EASIER way!
Look behind the radio and you should see two molex plugs plugged into a set of wires identicle to the other side of the plug. Unplug these and the universal toyota harness will fit them. This way you dont have to rewire a thing - yet still bypass the internal amp. Ill try get you a pic or 2 tomorrow when Im at work. Turns a 4hr job into about a 5 minute one.
