Where did you mount your crossovers???

I just got a new set of CDT EF-61cf components and I tried mounting the crossovers in the door panels of my 99 4runner, but couldn't get them to fit.

I was wondering where you guys mounted yours.

I've got a set of the EF-61i's. I believe they have the same crossover (SatNet 560). I mounted mine in the door panels turned sideways. I attached a pic (stolen from http://www.hboss.net/4runner/door-panel-removal.htm) to show the location.

They barely fit without the grills and the window/door lock panel just barely clears them. I think I screwed one side to the plastic speaker panel and the other side to the door. I also took a dremel to the back side of the door panel to remove some unnecessary plastic that was in the way.

I'm interested to know how you mounted the midranges. I made an adapter ring out of 3/4" MDF but found it to be too thick. I can't get one or two of the plastic tabs that hold the door on to stay in place. When the weather gets better, I'm planning to redo them. I get some vibration from the door panel when I crank up the volume.

They're awesome speakers though. I bought mine from djdilliodon on SoundDomain for $195 shipped. They are by far the best components I've heard for the money.

EDIT: I just checked the CDT web site. It looks like the EF-61CFs come with the SatNet 456a crossover. I would imagine they're the same size though.

I bought the same set from djdilliodon too. I had the same problem like you. I couldn't get that last tab to stay into the door panel, which really bugs.

The midranges do stick out pretty far too and I think that might be adding to it also.

I'm thinking of putting the crossovers in the glove compartment, but it sucks becasue I would have to run all the wiring through the doors.

I have the Dimaond Audio Hex seperates. The crossover is massive, hard to hide. TO bid to mount in the door. So its attached to the kick pannels.

i mounted my crossovers under the passenger seat since they are huge. i left enough wire to pull them out so i can change the settings on them without removing the seats. although, it was a PITA to run 2 pairs of speaker cable for the mid and tweet.
