Stereo upgrade

Hi all,

I'm in the process of upgrading my stereo system.
Please let me know what size are the speakers in the front and rear.
Also, if you guys can let me know what's the best
subwoofer setup available... any custom boxes available for our cars??
Crutchfield sell a box to be installed in the rear compartment... Any of you
guys is using this box??
Any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

maguirre

To whom it may concern,

Noone has a clue on what you want to spend. They
also have no idea what type of setup you are looking for.
Custom is a general term, so you need to be a bit more
specific. Oh, and did I mention that noone knows your
budget? Fill us in, and someone on this board will be
more than happy to help.

Sincerely,

Thanks for the response,

My budget is not a real issue, I'm not planning on spending thousands of bucks on my system, I will do $1,000 - $1500. I just want some info on the sizes of my stock speakers… I think they are 6 1/2 in the front… Is this correct?? What about the rears??? I also wanted some ideas on what setups are available for subwoofers.... I saw the enclousure that's available at Crutchfield that gets installed on the passenger side compartment. Is anyone using this??? Any feedback??? Just so you guys know, I have on my 97 Supra the Pioneer "Premier" DEH-940MP for head unit, I also have Infinity Kappa 42.5i and 652.5i speakers for the front and rear, I have a JL Audio 250/1 - 250 Watts amp, which powers my 10w3v2 JL Audio subwoofer.

Thanks for all your help,

maguirre

Cool. I think DavidA has the same type of ride you do. Might want to see what he is running.

Click here for his thread on the subject.

JL Audio makes a stealthbox for your 4runner:

Here is the Q-Logic subwoofer box. It comes loaded with a subwoofer (~$240), and unloaded (~$180).

Should be. If it looks tall it is.

Nice setup in the supra....dare I ask what it runs on the 1/4? (No supra jokes guys!) The 07 supra has some pretty damn big footsteps to follow in...

As far as the 'best' setup that varies. For me it would be a wall of 32 10s being pushed with about 16,000 watts rms making the windshield flex 2 or 3 inches on bass notes... Thats just the bass, I wont go into the high end...LOL

For people who dont have a mental illness like me, youd want SQ (sound quality) Remember true sound quality still has the ability to get LOUD, just not idiotically loud like above...hehehe.

If you have OEM tweeter locations, then I'd highly recommend some components. My favorites (which also are about 500usd retail) are Focal Polykevs, ID chameleons, A/D/S/, CTD, and Kicker SS. But let your ears decide for you with your music at your level of amplfication. (Components will sound radically different on different amounts of power.) Id also invest in a high quality 2 channel amp to push the component set up front.

For the rear speakers, just throw some lower line coaxials back there that sound decent. Boston makes some GREAT sounding coaxials as does MTX surprisingly. Push these off of the rear outputs from the deck. And if you are driving by yourself, I'd recommend that you fade all the way forward as the rear fill detracts from the soundstage...

On bass there are quite a few good sounding subs out there. JL's w3, w6, and w7 are all great sounding subs particularly sealed. However I have never really cared to run with the JL cats around here - most are too egotistical... One of the best souding, imo, is www.incriminatoraudio.com their death penalty and leathal injection series. Avoid DD, they sound like crap imo. Then there is Adire Audio and their Brahma series. Also Eclipse's Titanium is also a VERY good woofer. (Just dont get the TiPro if you are after sq...it uses TC sounds 4hp motor...)

As far as source units, Pioneer Dehp 7700mp is excellent as are all of eclipse's top end units, and Nak's

Thanks,... my supra is probably running high 11's with my recent mods.
The 07 Supra?? I'll do a research on this.

Thanks, for all the feedback. I'll see what I decide to do with my stereo system.
If anyone can please point me in the right direction to where I can buy the
JL Audio stealth box... I really want it.

thanks
