I've been wondering about this for awhile, as soon as i get some money i'd really like to do something about the stereo in my truck. I've changed the radio over to a pioneer, so im happy with that. but all i have is the two stock speakers in the dash, and i'd like to know if theres any good way to get subs(Like two 10 or 8 inch) behind the seat, and if you guys had any reccomendations for some good midrange sound too. My trucks a regular cab, and i keep the seat slid all the way back.

kicker L7=useless mirrors! they dont need much room and 1 10" is plenty( with the right amp)

I think i just looked at them on the kicker website(It said solobaric L7?)
And its 350$ for one 10... any cheaper options? xD Im pretty much broke, trying to find a job so i can make my own gas money while im in school.

Seal up the holes in the doors and some sound deadening and put some 6" components in there. I did the cheap pioneers. A huge improvement.

What do you mean seal up the wholes in the door? i've never taken the door panel off on either side of my truck, and obviously im a little new to this haha.

I put JL Audio 4" C2 speakers, amplified them in the factory location, sealed them up real nice and i gotta say, they are the best sounding 4" car speakers I've ever heard. I was originally going to put 6.5" set in the doors but didn't wanna cut up my truck. We are JL audio authorized dealers at my shop let me know if you have any questions, thanks

best sounding 4" speakers i've personally ever heard are the Boston Acoustics S45 4" 2-way speakers. when i got my truck it only had the 2, 4" dash speakers (and one was blown) - so i bought the two Crutchfield highest rated 4" speakers at the time to compare for myself (Boston Acoustics and a Kenwood of some sort) and the BA speakers blew the other out of the water hands down with the stock head unit. they also weighed about 3x more, each, than the kenwoods.

since then i've added an xplod head unit and some 6.5" 3-way Pioneer speakers to the doors, which were supposed to be really good from reviews -- but still the BA 4" speakers sound better overall and produce significantly more bass for whatever reason.

some day i plan on either adding some 6x9s to the rear side compartments for more bass or just getting an 8-10" sub and amp to put in the jumper seat storage compartments - that way i can just flip the seat down so nobody sees the sub. i would think ONE good amplified sub will be plenty in such a small cab. IIRC, any 8" will fit fine, but if you want a 10-12" you need a shallow sub if you're going to put it in the under-seat compartment. bazooka tube is another option since they're fairly compact and already amplified.

Go with 6.5" in your doors with baffles, amplified, and a 10" sub behind your seats... 3 speaker systems sound the best man.. I went with some old polk momo mmc6500 in my doors 250w ab amp and a 10" JLW6V2 with 500w class d. Sound better than 6 speakers all trying to reproduce the exact same frequence at the exact same time...

I went with the fosgate slim 10 it was like 80 bucks and the 300 watt fosgate mono amp 200 bucks have a slim box made total will be little under 400. BUT this has ended up not being enough for me, so I am going to upgrade to the jl 13.5 slim with a 500/1 this summer. You don't have much room to work with it is very hard to get massive bass unless you go my second route which is going to run me about a grand.

Well, i wound up wiring up a walmart box(One of those HD by scosche deals) and i left it in for about a week. then i was stumbling around through our storage room, and i found my dads box out of his old 80's model chevy. 3 8" speakers in a box 8 inches deep. barely fit, seat had to be slid all the way forward. but it sounds amazing now, just need to get a amp hooked up for a little more bass.
