Legacy subs?

Alright, I'm shopping for some subwoofers, and came across these:

http://www.google.com/products/catal...CBAQ8wIwAjgA#p

$12.00 12" Legacy Subs, 450 watts

Since I know nothing about car audio, I asked a friend who kinda knows, he said they looked good.

$12.00 is awfully cheap which leads me to believe they are garbage.

But I'm curious if anyone here has heard them, or owns them? Are they decent? Thanks

Try planet audio, great speakers, great price. I have been very happy wth them.

Or, if your pockets are feeling deep, go this route. I have felt the pain two of these can deliver, one vicious sub.

Nah, kicker is over-rated. Mid 90's their quality was top notch, the way the company's going now, the quality has totally diminished for their off the shelf subs. MB Quart on the other hand still makes an excellent speaker. Rockford has declined also, the old pulp injected subs they used to make were amazing. But, like elton said, what are you trying to do? If you want crystal clear highs and deep smooth bass, go with Infinity, kappa series mids and highs, Reference series 10" sub, and a Q-Logic box. If you want to irritate people and be heard blocks away, go for an Orion HCCA 12.4 sub.

If you wanna stay cheap and have a decent sub, go with Sony Xplods. Now i know a lot of people will give me crap about saying that but they aren't a bad sub at all. (I dont run them a friend does) But i used to have a set of 2 12"s that hit pretty hard. (although they cant compare to my Infinity's now lol)

Alright I won't go with Legacy. MB Quart makes a 15" 1400 watt sub for $70, which seems like a good deal.

I have another question, if I were to buy those subs, would they be a waste with my roughly $80 stereo? Or should I upgrade? Its from the P/O.

I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money ($140 for the pair is already alot for me)

You'll be good cuase the only thing the stereo does for the sub is send the signal to your amp and turn it on. And then runs 4 channels for each speaker thats where it sends the watts out.
My friend has that 15'' and its really loud just always make sure u get an amp that rated a little over what the subs max is because its always better to have an amps gain turned down a little vs. running one wide open, its not good for them and they get realllly hot most of the time, especially cheap ones. Another thing cheap amps work which is wat i have and thats the way i would go if ur on a budget. hope that helps

Do NOT buy those subs! I ordered a pair of 12's for my first subs which were suppose to handle 800 watts a piece and they sounded really dampened and dull. They hardly even moved, and they wouldn't even handle 100 watts a piece. Now they are in my attic and the glue that held the surround together has dried out so I might as well plug them into an outlet or something cool like that.

i would hope by now (nearly two years after the last post) they found some subs.
