Speaker advice please

Hey folks,

I need to replace my stock Toyota door speakers (6" round I believe), as they are blown. I have a '98 Toyota Tacoma. Any suggestions? I don't want to spend a fortune for the best - I only want something that sounds as good as the stock speakers did or better (I thought they were pretty decent). I have a 200W stereo with no amp. I am also thinking about replacing the woofers and tweeters that I have in the back behind the seats. I think the woofers are 8" and the tweeters about 2.5". They are Kenwood and originally came in truck boxes. You can see a pic HERE.

Thanks!

I've always been partial to Boston Acoustic. Good bang for the buck.

I think everyone's ears are a little different, everyone can chime in there favorite brands. I suggest taking an hour or 2 and go listen to different speakers at a decent car audio shop. Every speaker is different in it's own right, bass response, clarity of highs, midbass it's all relative. Remember you will probably use these speakers for 100's of hours don't forget that. When you find the ones you like, buy them online and install them yourself. I'm sure you will have no problem with that. BA is good as mentioned, Infinity is decent, JL has a good lineup. The best in my opinion is Diamond Audio, I plan on switching over to the Diamond Audio Hex's when my budget allows in the future.

I used to have Boston Acousitcs FX6 they were great replacements. I thought the world of them untill I heard the Eclipse multi-points. Thoes were some of the clearst and most repsonsive 6 1/2 I have ever dealt with.

As for the HEXs your right on with that. Im putting 150 watts to them and they are bright. I have the gain all the way down, and the deck trebble level set to zero. I havent heard anything other than Focals that can compare to the Hexs. But, and this is a big but, dont buy hexs unless you can give it power. They wont sound good with less than 100 watts.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I have started looking around on-line a little bit at some of the brands you mentioned. The JL stuff looks very nice.

Ahh, yes. This is something I am a little concerned about. As I mentioned, I have a 200w stereo w/no amp. A lot of the stuff I am seeing has big RMS numbers (some of it for very cheap prices) and I don't want to end up with something that doesn't sound good without an external amp. Any tips on this as far as what kind of specs to look for on RMS and frequency response?

Thanks
