Satalite radio install

I have an 03 LE with jbl 6 disc 10 speaker NO NAV. I just purchased a Sirus unit and want some expert insallment advice. The pimple faced kid at Best Buy said he would do it right away . After i drove around back , Iam told a 3 hour wait by some other kid who didnt look old enough to drive. Any help on install would be a great help..

FM modulator, for the cheap and easy.

or if tyou can find a adapter for the cd changer so the sirius appears as an extra device on the chain, this would be the best way for the best sound. but buying the extra adapters might be $$$$ or next to impossible.

btw, ask the BB (or circuit city, heck ANY installer) if they are or have any MECP sertification...

It's a coin flip at those places to get someone who would do it right.

If your able, it's not hard. If you want to keep everything stock look here for ideas on adapters.

The hardest part of the install will be the external antanae. If you search here you'll see some examples done.

I used to be an installer at circuit city. the install is pretty easy. Sirius's antenna uses a direct sight to satelite so it will work best on roof of car. You can either run it through the 3rd brake light in the back and then through the headliner up to the front, or put it by windshield and run it along the weather stripping until you have an option to run into car whether it be in door somewhere or into engine compartment and through firewall. Back is probably easier. As for the unit itself, you can either plug cigarette lighter in, or hard wire. you can go to www.metraonline.com and look up the dash kit or your vehicle and download instructions as to how to disassemble the dash to get behind radio. this is where you would either plug in a hardwired fm modulator or aux input if you have one. (would suggest one or the other) If you are going to use it wirelessly then good luck. You can then splice into factory wiring for radio to get power to unit. Most sirius units except the s50 are 12volts so you can just cut off cigarette plug and splice into ground and acc. If I remember correctly, On the sirius power cable the side with the white striping is positive. Anyways, you can find the wiring diagram of the harness all over the internet. Mounting is the real question. Pro fit makes really good factory mounting brackets that are solid and you dont have to make holes in car. their website is www.pro-fit-intl.com I think. Anyways have fun and good luck.
