1st remove the overhead panel at the rear with the light. Flathead screw driver will work but once you get one popped fingers are able to finish removal. Unplug light connector within.
2nd you will see two or three philips screw headed screws on each side where you removed the light panel. Remove all.
3rd remove the cubby hole doors so the panels can flex on removal.
4th Each panel has like 5-10 plastic push pins and are fragile due to age and the fact they are meant to push in not pull out. Flat head will help out here to. Work from the very back edge to the front.
*Officially you can do speakers with the panels halfway removed but it is somewhat tight to do so.
If you want the panel all the way out then remove your backseat upper seatbelt mount. It consists of a plastic cover that the flat head can gently pry open and a bolt within you need to remove. Just hang that unit over the seat and continue prying the other pins. Not very hard just a PITA to do. To bad they didnt just make removable panels over the speaker area.

Ummmm ... my '93 is 5.25" in the back. 6.5"s would be nice though...I had them installed so I'm not sure what it looks like. You might need to cut a bigger opening.

6.5's would sound a lot better - post a pic and let's see if you could mod the opening so they would fit! (yes, I'm a lazy bastard who doesn't want to pull my side panels)

I only see the pic of the outside ... get me a pic of where the speaker mounts - might not need much in the way of tools...
