Radio wiring and Install

Radio wiring and Install
I've checked around the inter-webs for some info regarding my head-unit wiring, and the only ones I come up with do not match my 4runner. Thought I'd share, and get your thoughts.
Does the original rear speakers have some sort of amp?

So, here:
Green: No idea
Red: No idea
Purple & Pink: left front
Light green & blue: right front
Brown: ground
Blue/yellow: constant 12v
gray: on/off 12v
So what's the green and red. They are not hot.
also, lol, general install technique. does that center dashboard/console piece need to come out? I have some cheapass mount-kit that well, doesn't want to go in, and I don't wanna force it yet until i hear otherwise.

Yes the front portion of the console comes out
you need to remove the heater/ac letter plate the top screws for the console are under there
If you tell us what year it might help The amp plug is different from the radio

This is from my 88 pickup. Looks like you have a few colors I don't but maybe it will help.
Radio 12 volts: Blue/Yellow
Radio Ground: White/Black
Radio Accessory: Gray
Radio Illumination: Green
Left Front Speaker: Pink/Purple (+/-)
Right Front Speaker: Lt. Green/Blue (+/-)
Left Rear Speaker: Black/Yellow (+/-)
Right Rear Speaker: Red/White (+/-)
Good luck!

I could never get my rear speakers to work in my 86..I just ripped the old ones out and put in some new ones.

In those year 4runners there are two plugs. one controls the fronts and has the power, switched, and ground wires. the second smaller plug has the wires for the rear speakers. It looks like the smaller plug is MIA in your photos?
left rear wire colors should be:
(+) black
(-) yellow
right rear wire colors should be:
(+) red
(-) white
hope that helps a little

If your 4Runner has rear speakers, all of the above wiring is incorrect.
The rear speakers are amped (very small amp, built into the speaker) and requires a different setup. I do not have the wiring diagram at this time.

i thought that only applied in the 90-95 runners? The runner in question is an 88 i believe so should be non amplified? but i could be wrong.
