Radio Security Code

Wondering if someone can help? I had the timing belt replaced on my 94 4Runner and the factory equipped AM/FM Tape unit was disconnected from the battery llong enough to enable the security system in the radio. I was given the chance to enter up to 9 possible security codes consisting of 3 digit numbers. I have tried every possible combination of 3 digit numbers that I might have used ten years ago when the vehicle was new, if I used one at all. I now have used 7 tries and if I use 2 more the radio will be "self-destructed" according to the Vehicle Owner's Manual. My local dealer would be happy to assist me, for a 1 hour minimum (could take longer) service charge, but I'm not going to do that because they caused the problem in the first place.
Also, the manual says that you have to have the unit on when you enter the code numbers, how can you tell it's on when it's inoperable?
My question is, does anyone know if there is a security over-ride code or any other way that I can get my radio functioning again?
Thank you in advance,

Paul in Maine

It has been my experience in the past that the radio has to be removed from the vehicle in order to get the serial # off of the back. Once you get the serial #, you should be able to call the dealer and have them lookup the code by serial #. If you enter the wrong code too many times, you should be able to disconnect the battery and start over.
I would verify this w/ the dealer of course.
