Power Antenna Problems

Just swapped out my OEM ('01) head unit with a new Sony (Sony CDX-GT705DX) followed directions exackly (wires were soldered, heat shrinked).

Now the power antenna does not go up when head unit powers up. I used the Metra Toyota plug adapter connectors.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Put your head unit on tuner. My Alpine HU only raise the antenna when your listening to the radio, then as soon as you change to a cd or other source the antenna goes back down.

mine only goes up when on tuner as well. some others put it up any time the HU is powered on. Try the tuner thing and let us know.

thanks for the response, but I had tried that before with no luck.

Connected the p.ant lead from the sony to the Mitra connector for antenna - the opposite side of the connection has a jumper connection from the vendor, do not know why. I'm going to meter the wire for power output.

Anyone know if the power ant lead has permanent power when on tuner or if it just sends a signal (relay, etc.).

Thanks

I think it just sends a signal. I have a sony HU now and I had a cable that pluged into the power antenna. Hope you get this solved.

Wink

What do you mean- cable? Bypass from the head unit or a custom power lead run on it's own?

Thanks, nice shot!

ok all aftermarket decks have a solid blue wire, that solid blue wire is for your power antenna. This blue wire will essentiall produce 12v whenever you have your tuner on.... Ill post back with what color the toyota p antenna wire is...
