newb question about components

I just bought a set of Q-logic kickpanels complete with speakers on eBay. In the box was the two enclosures and two cables. The cables have one set of speaker wire going into a cylindrical enclosure, then two sets coming out. Of the two coming out, one has connectors on that fit the larger speaker in the kickpanel, while the other is just a cut off wire. The wire coming into the cylinder is just cut off, no connectors at all.

Are these crossovers? I'm thinking I hook the factory speaker wires up to the "input" end, then the two output ends go to the mid and tweets in the kickpanel. Am I right? I'd rather not start a fire if possible.

Sorry for the newb question, and thanks for any help.

Isaac

if you spend $100 or so for the q-logic enclosures, do yourself a favor and spend another $100-200 for a good quality amp to hopefully power a good set of speaker you plan on putting in them.

wait... are these new enclosures? i never heard of them coming new with crossovers in them...

"complete with speakers on eBay."

They're used, but in pretty good shape. I can't afford a good quality amp so I'll have to deal with the amp in the crappy HU that came with the truck. Stereo on a budget.

Anyways, do these dealies that were in the box sound like crossovers? I wanna hear how these speakers sound!

Thanks,

Isaac

I did read your writeup, it was a major inspiration for buying these kickpanels. My "crossovers" look nothing like yours, though.

I just emailed the seller and hopefully he can give me some hints.

I'll see if I can find a camera. I just reread the auction and it says it includes "inline crossovers". I'm pretty sure I know how to set them up.

edit: we just moved and the camera is packed away somewhere. I think I might just crimp some connectors on these things and see if they make any sound. Hopefully I won't destroy them

Thanks for all the help!

dude...

spend about $50 (i picked up a going out of sale audiobahn from frys for $49) and power those speakers.

the head unit has less then 10 watts per of GOOD quality sound...

biggest killer of mids and tweets are distortion...

Well if anyone cares I grabbed a free old amp from a buddy. It's a pretty cheap amp (Genexxa brand) but hopefully it'll work well enough.

Off to read about wiring..
