Ok, so I took a week off of work at thanksgiving, drove home to frigid Toledo and spent copious amounts of time building. First thing first:

Monday was spent taking out seats and carpet. 8# carpet padding was placed underneath stock carpet (surprised to see stock padding as well)

I also took apart the dash to replace a bad RCA cable that ran to my rear mids (theivery, shady piss poor install job by insurance-paid installer, blah).

Tuesday I started to build. Originally the plan was to do a false floor, with storage compartments, amp rack and box. But I'm a tard and measured wrong (already had wood cut) so no false floor. Modified plans.

Final box was out of 3/4" MDF, double baffle on top, double baffle on bottom, double board seperating the two chambers. Tons of liquid nails, wood glue and 2" drywall screws (may use sheetmetal screws next time). This thing was bomb proof.

For having ghetto tools and a severly injured back while doing it (and it being my first box) it's acceptable.

The box sits on top of the wheel wells, straddling the amps below with vanity panels merely covering the amps (easy access, ventilation). Not ideal, but a good on the fly modification. Pics to follow:

That's Beautiful man!! You probably should have layed a layer of dampening material underneath the carpet as well, but it should be quiet in there nonetheless. That is until you crank up the volume on those subs. Nice box, is it sealed? If so, looks pretty big for a sealed enclosure.

Thanks. Yea i forgot to add that there's 2 layers of high-temp mastic on the floor and 3 coats of liquid damping on the doors. the only thing that hasn't been treated with anything yet is the headliner/roof area. I'm waiting till summer/spring for that!

It's amazing how much of an extra difference the padding made though for road noise.

The box is sealed, 1cf for each sub, which for a 12 is fairly small. The 6x20" section at the bottom is where the amps are (open air underneath the box...kinda on stilts), so it looks like the box is bigger than it really is. I think outter dimensions are 7.5h x 40w x 17d. Somethin' like that.

Tricky Tricky That box and sound deading do look good. I've got one question, whats the best way to cut the circles for the subs? I don't have a router, and I'd like to do it without one, but if its the only way I guess I'd have to get one .

i did them with a jigsaw. i drilled a hole in the middle, then cut with a jigsaw. go slowly is my only advice.

(it helps that in a sculpture class in college i did a 5 foot tall chess piece out of wood, which involved cutting several hundred circles with a jigsaw...so i was quite used to it!)
