Need help from the experts please Updated 12/14/04 please advise

Ok I am buying a amp but I am going to use a Infinity Basslink Sub. I am trying to get a Infinity 7540 4 channel amp to do the front and rear doors. What componets do I get to fit existing openings and tweeter locations. I do not want to modify my door panels if I do not have to or at least keep it to a minimum. Please tell me what to buy for front doors in components and rear doors I am open for suggestions.

I have a 99 4runner with the factor CD and comes with Tweeters in the doors. I bought a Alpine 7894 Head unit and I am going to get the xm receiver. This head unit it 60 Watt x4. I do not want a amp but I want some componets that will go in the front doors that the tweetes will work in the factory locations. I also want to swap the rear door speakers but I do not want to heavily modify the door. I want a nice and clean look. And last I was going to put in a Infinity Bass Link so that I will not need amp. I just want something that sounds nice for me not nice 2 blocks away. Not that there is anything wrong with that! SO what type of doors speakers do I need, brand and models would be nice and cost. Also will the Head unit and Bass link sound Nice. Thanks for all the help. bcr308

If you're going to install components up front, I don't suggest you use the head unit's built in amp; it won't be nearly powerful enough. Most components take 60+ watts RMS, and aren't THAT efficient.

Pick up a decent 4 channel amp, put it under your driver's seat, and wire up the front and rear speakers. Your ears will thank you!

Also, goto Crutchfield.com and click on "What fits my car?". They'll tell you exactly which speakers fit, and where. From there, you can shop what you want elsewhere for a better price.

I couldn't agree more.

Keep in mind there is no way in hell you will ever pull 60 watts out of each channel even if lightning strikes. As per RMS values, your component set MIGHT get 12-18 watts each - hardly enough power to do components ANY justice at all. Do yourself a favor and buy a small 2 channel amp for those comps... Otherwise coaxials would be a better choice for you. Sound quality is directly proportional to the amount of power you have available on tap and the preamplifier quality....

Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure, but that's the truth unfortunately...

Yep, they should not even put the decks wattage on the deck it self. Its all lies. I went out and bought amps to run eveything. Im putting 150x2 to my Diamond Audio hex seperates, and Im running about 75x2 to my coaxils. SO I have about 3 amps right now, soon to be 4. DOnt bother running anything but stock speakers off the deck, otherwise if you spend the money on the seperates, you mights as well spend a little more on the amp. The sound will be worlds better
